Rocksbox Review

This is my second Rocksbox review and I'm so excited about this box! In case you missed my first Rocksbox Review, you can see that here. Also, keep reading to find out how you can try Rocksbox for free your first month.

Rocksbox will send you three designer pieces of jewelry to wear for $19 a month, and you can keep it as long as you want (as long as your subscription is still active).  So this isn't the type of box where they change monthly...each box is chosen by a stylist based on your personal style quiz that you take when you sign up. Then, you can rotate your jewelry as often as you'd like...you can even purchase items that you've fallen in love with (Rocksbox will give you $10 each month toward a purchase).

Here's how it works:
  • Sign up at www.rocksbox.com
  • Take the Style Survey and add items to your wishlist.
  • Your stylist will send you 3 pieces based on your style and tastes.
  • Keep the jewelry as long as you want (as long as you're still subscribed).
  • When you want to change it up, send your jewelry back in the prepaid envelope and you'll get 3 new pieces.  You can do this as often as you want.
  • Each month, you'll get $10 in "Shine Spend" to put toward purchasing an item you love so much you just can't bear to send it back (and the jewelry is 20% off retail prices!).
  • To purchase an item from your box just keep it and send the rest of the box back. Your credit card will be charged for the price of the item, minus any credits you may have.
  • Every time you refer someone to Rocksbox and they sign up, you'll get $25 in credit to spend on jewelry purchases!
Please note that all jewelry is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized every time it comes back to Rocksbox. The pieces I received looked brand new!

I didn't end up keeping anything from last month's box, although I really loved the bracelet they sent me.  It was just a little too expensive, but I was thisclose. That all changes this month though! Let's take a look at what I got...

CC Skye Punk Heiress Ring- $78 (Reg. $98).  This ring is so cool and totally punk-rock. It's a two piece ring that can be worn separately or together. When worn together, the smaller piece with the triangle shapes fits in the center of the bigger piece.  I've gotten a lot of compliments on this ring already and I've only had it for a few days.

Next, I received Kristine Lily Silver Druzy Quartz Studs $58 (Reg. $73). These studs also go with the punk-rock theme of this box...they're simple yet edgy with a chunk of rough cut pewter-colored shimmery quartz.

The final piece I received is by Slate, and it's their Beyond the Horizon Necklace, $44 (Reg. $56). It's a little bit edgy, a little bit classy...looks great with a casual T-shirt but can also be dressed up.  It's also really reasonable, especially with my $10 monthly credit applied- that brings the price to $34, so I've pretty much made up my mind that I'm going to buy this one, because I've been wearing it non-stop since I got it and it looks great with every outfit!

So here's what they look like on:

Overall, I'm so happy with Rocksbox! It's so much fun getting three new jewelry pieces as often as I want and I love that I can try them out first and see how often I wear them before I commit to a purchase. When it comes to investing in more expensive designer pieces, I really want to be able to try them on at home with different outfits and make sure they'll get worn often enough to make it worth the money.

New! Living Proof Blowout now at Ulta.

Living Proof Blowout ($24 at Ulta) is brand new and promises to give you a salon-worthy blowout and a shorter drying time. I have loved just about every product I've tried from Living Proof so I can't wait to try this.  Even my ultimate hair icon, Jennifer Aniston loves Living Proof so much she's not only their spokesperson, but a co-owner of the company.

Here are the claims for Blowout, which comes in two sizes, 1.7oz Travel and 5oz.:

  • Reduces the amount of brush work needed to shape your style, giving you a faster and easier blowout experience. Spend less time styling (and just get on with your day).
  • Molds, shapes, and locks in your blowout. So your hair looks polished and full of body the second you stop styling - and it actually stays that way.
  • Creates optimal level of grip for brush detailing (meaning you can actually get those Pinterest-worthy flips).
  • Provides heat protection (up to 450 F) and, when applied to a finished style, extra hold.
  • Can be used on second-day hair to touch up and finish your blowout. Less shampooing, more snoozing.
If the claims on this are true, it sounds like the ultimate hair product! I think I'm going to pick up the travel size today during the Ebates 16% cash back sale! So look for a review coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil Review

$

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil ($105 at Sephora) is a next-generation retinol oil that helps to fight the signs of aging.  I normally don't review products that are this expensive on the blog (let alone purchase them for myself!) but when it comes to skincare I'll spend the big bucks on something if I truly believe it's going to make a difference. I feel that your skin is the foundation for everything, and if it looks great, your makeup will look better...actually, you'll probably need to wear less of it. As I've gotten older, I've found that wearing a lot of makeup, particularly foundation can be aging (the exact opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish!) so if I can get my skin looking as close to flawless as possible on it's own, I won't have to always worry about covering up age spots, redness, pores, and fine lines.

I've been using retinol products for a while now since it's one of the few ingredients that's actually effective at rebuilding collagen.  The problem is, most retinols are drying, so for the longest time, I thought that my lines and wrinkles were actually getting worse not better.  Then my dermatologist told me that they're not getting worse...they're most likely getting better, but when your skin is dried out, it makes lines look more pronounced.  I have dry skin to begin with, so that wasn't good news...what was the point of using something that made my skin look more wrinkled, even if it was doing good below the surface? So I stopped using retinol for a while and starting using extra-moisturizing products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid.  My skin looked better and seemed more plump with less lines, but it was all superficial...I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that I wasn't actually correcting the damage...just putting a band-aid on it.
Then I heard about Sunday Riley Luna...so many bloggers and online reviewers were claiming that it worked miracles for their skin. Even though it's a retinol product, it's in a super nourishing oil base with lots of natural, soothing ingredients. I was so excited about the prospect of a hydrating retinol treatment that I ran right out to Sephora and purchased it.
The packaging is super luxurious...it comes in a thick, sturdy box that lifts off of a base where a beautiful dark blue glass dropper bottle sits nestled inside.

The bottle itself is just beautiful...the dark blue glass shields the ingredients from light which can break them down. It's 1oz. but it's going to last a really long time since I only use about 3 or 4 drops to cover my face and neck.
This is a sleeping oil, so you only wear it at night...that's when retinol performs best anyway.  Just be sure to wear sunscreen during the day, as retinol can make your skin photosensitive. Also, you shouldn't use this product if you're pregnant because of the high retinol content...retinol is a Vitamin A derivative and Vitamin A can cause birth defects if you take in too much.
The box said that the retinol in Luna can cause mild peeling for a few days as your skin adjusts to it but I didn't experience any redness, peeling or other negative effects.  Luna contains soothing ingredients such as blue tansy and chamomile to minimize the irritation associated with rentinol. It also contains Avocado oil and Grapeseed oil...they're the first two ingredients so you can imagine how hydrating this is.  When I apply it, my skin feels so soft and velvety once it's soaks in.  I don't even need a separate moisturizer...I got to bed with only Luna on my face and my skin never looks dehydrated or dry.

Luna is a gorgeous blue-green color that totally surprised me at first.  I assumed it was from the Blue Tansy oil, but then I saw in the ingredient list that they have also added color to it. Some of the reviews I've read questioned the use of artificial colors since many people feel that they are unnecessary and not good for your skin.  But I saw an explanation on Sunday Riley's Instagram page that I wanted to pass on to you.  It said that the dyes are harmless and only make up .04% of the formula.  They were added as indicators so that when you apply it to your skin, you'll know when it's been rubbed in all the way (you shouldn't be able to see blue anymore).  That way, you'll know that you've used it correctly and will get the most benefits from it.

The one and only thing I'm not crazy about with Luna is the scent...it's a strong herbal scent that reminds me of licorice (which I don't like) but thankfully, I can't smell it on my skin about 5 minutes after application so I don't have to smell it for long. I've actually gotten kind of used to it and it doesn't bother me as much as it did in the beginning.

So the big question I'm sure you have is...does it work? YES...it definitely worked for me! The first two nights, I didn't see any difference in my skin but it felt super soft and smooth.  By the third night, I noticed that my skin looked a little brighter and after a week, I woke up and thought, "wow my skin looks good!" It looked smoother, brighter and more clear. I've been using it for a month and I've seen my sun damage spots lighten up a lot, plus the texture of my skin is so much smoother.  As for fine lines and wrinkles...well, I'll need to keep using it longer to find out.  From what I understand from my dermatologist, retinol products take at least a month to start seeing a reduction in wrinkles.

I've been so happy with Luna, I recently went back to Sephora and got a sample of Sunday Riley's Good Genes Treatment and I've been using that in the morning and Luna at night (although you can layer Good Genes on top of Luna at night if you want to, according to Sunday Riley).  It's completely amplified the great results I got with Luna, so now I'm contemplating buying Good Genes as well!

Overall, if you're looking for a gentle, yet powerful and effective retinol product, you have to run down to Sephora and try Luna. Ask an associate to give you a sample jar first and see how it goes...if you're like me, you may see results in a few days and decide to go back and get the full size. If not, then you haven't lost anything. In my opinion, Luna is worth the splurge!

Have you tried Luna Sleeping Night Oil yet?  I'd love to hear from you and find out what you thought!

City Color Cosmetics Spice Me Up Palette ($8.99) is a brand new release and City Color was nice enough to send it to me for review!  I've been loving everything I've tried from City Color so I was definitely excited to review and swatch this one for you guys.  Let's take a look...

The Spice Me Up Palette contains 10 lightly-shimmery eyeshadows in beautiful spice tones.
City Color Spice Me Up Palette Review and Swatches
This palette is super affordable at only $8.99 ($7.64 if you use my coupon code below) and is a great way to get your hands on a high-quality neutrals palette.  I have so many but I still can't get enough! I guess it's because I wear mostly neutrals on a daily basis so I get the most use out of them.  But I have to say...I tried to dupe some of these shades, and compared them to my Naked palettes, the Chocolate Bar, the Lorac Pro 2, etc and none of them were exact dupes! So really, this palette just added 10 totally new shades to my collection.
City Color Spice Me Up Palette Review and Swatches

These shadows are all soft and buttery, some slightly more than others.  In the top row, the standout shades are #1, #4 and #5.  #2 and #3 were slightly drier in texture.
#1 is a gorgeous silvery champagne shade, while #2 and #3 are warm medium browns.  #4 is a beautiful peachy champagne shade, and #5 is such a pretty copper.

In the second row, #6 is a rich, warm medium brown, #7 is a shimmery taupe that has that slightly less buttery texture, #8 is amazing! Not only is it a rich warm coppery brown, but it's the softest, most buttery eyeshadow I've ever touched and the pigmentation is everything. It literally makes the entire palette for me! #9 is a deep tan with warm undertones and #10 is a beautiful purple-gray.

BeautyMP Makeup Pumps Review

$

0
Few things annoy me in the makeup world more than a foundation without a pump.  It happens mainly in the drugstore, but even higher end brands do it as well.  Sometimes, a certain brand will put a pump on one formula and not another, for example...L'oreal.  Their True Match foundation doesn't have a pump, yet True Match Lumi does! It's a mystery I'll never understand, but thankfully, BeautyMP has a solution! They carry pumps to fit just about every foundation so you're sure to find the one you need.

BeautyMP was kind enough to send me pumps for two of my favorite drugstore foundations that I use all the time...L'oreal True Match ($6.99) and Revlon Colorstay ($6.99). Having pumps for these is so exciting because it's more hygienic, less messy, and less wasteful!
The True match pump fit perfectly and comes with a clear cap to use when traveling. The Colorstay pump fit tightly but because the neck of the bottle is very long the pump didn't quite make it all the way down past all the threads.  However, it's purely a cosmetic issue because it's tight-fitting and secure, and it won't leak. The Colorstay pump doesn't have a cap, but it locks into place by turning it to avoid spills during travel.
Both pumps work perfectly and dispense just the right amount of product!
Overall, this is such a great idea! Check out the BeautyMP website to find pumps for your favorite pump-less foundations! They carry pumps for Clinique, Estee Lauder, Nars, Rimmel, Covergirl, Neutrogena, MAC and more!
Most pumps are $6.99 each or 2 for $12.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Enigma Review and Swatches

Urban Decay Enigma Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($20) is a brand new limited edition shade for Spring 2015.  I've been using it for a while now and wanted to review it for you guys and also tell you a little bit about the cause behind it...let's take a look!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Enigma Review and Swatches

First and foremost, 100% of the purchase price of Enigma goes to The Ultraviolet Edge, which is Urban Decay's global initiative to empower women. Wende Zomnir, the founder of Urban Decay has teamed up with Gwen Stefani to help raise awareness and launch this amazing cause and they hope to raise $3 million over the next five years by selling limited edition products that will fund causes to empower women around the world.
Gwen Stefani and Wende Zomnir

All of the money they make from the sale of Enigma will go toward the Women's Global Empowerment Fund, to provide micro-loans, literacy programs, and business and leadership programs to women in post-war Uganda. Just 3 tubes of primer will fund a life-changing micro loan for one woman!

Enigma comes packaged like the other Primer Potions in the new style tube with an applicator. I'm conflicted about the packaging change because the applicator makes using this a little bit neater, but at the same time, dipping it back into the tube repeatedly might dry out the product or introduce bacteria over time. The paraben-free formula features "space-age polymer technology that fills in any imperfections on the skin's surface" and promises 24-hour wear.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Enigma Review and Swatches
Enigma is described as a neutral matte shade, and it definitely has a cooler, pinkish tone to it than the original Primer Potion. It creates an amazing base on your eyes that wakes you right up, even when you've had no sleep! Since I'm so fair-skinned, this can actually work as a barely-there eyeshadow look all by itself! Just be aware...the formula is very thick so you only need to dab on a little bit and then spread it thin with your finger.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Enigma Review and Swatches
I wanted to show you how this looks under eyeshadow, so I swatched L'oreal Infallible Burst Into Bloom by itself and then over Enigma.  It really intensified the color and pigmentation!
Overall, I love everything about this primer...the color, the long-lasting formula, and the cause that it supports! The only real negative is the fact that it's limited edition! I need to go buy more of it before it disappears.  It's been sold out on the Urban Decay website for a while now but you can still find it online at Ulta or Macys. It's not on the Sephora website anymore but I found mine in my local Sephora store...they still had quite a few left.

Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer Review

$
0
0
I'm going to just come right out and say that Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer ($22) is my new favorite primer! I've been on a bit of a Pixi kick lately, after trying (and loving) the Shea Butter Lip Balms, and then more recently, the Glow Mist, and when I start liking products from a brand, I can't stop myself, I just want to try more and more things! It also doesn't help that Pixi is available right at Target which is like, 5 minutes from my house. I can stand in there for half an hour playing with all the testers...but I usually don't because my 2 year old won't sit in the cart that long.
On a recent trip, I picked up the Flawless Beauty Primer.  Yes, $22 is a bit steep for a primer at Target, but it's 1 full oz. of product and you don't need a lot, so it's going to last a really long time. They also have smaller travel sizes for $9 that you can buy first to see if you like it!

The packaging is just gorgeous...like all Pixi products it's mint green with rose gold accents, so pretty! The Flawless Beauty Primer comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump (yessss) and you can see right through to the product inside which is a really beautiful pinky bronze shade.

According to the description on the box and on Pixi's website, this is a glow-enhancing primer that corrects uneven skin tone, hydrates, and prolongs makeup wear. I love Petra's quote on the box about this primer replicating what her skin looked like in her 20's because that's exactly what it does for me! In the world of color-correcting, pink helps to brighten dull skin and if you have super dry or mature skin types, you know exactly what I mean.  I am forever looking for that "glow" that I used to have when I was younger. My skin is so dry that it has a very flat look and just absorbs light rather than reflects it. This completely changes that, even when worn underneath foundation.
When you first pump it out, it's a bronzy pink shade and as you start to blend it, you can start to see tiny shimmer particles in the formula.
You can wear this alone as a brightener, but it's not enough coverage for me (even though it does make my skin look better). Plus, by itself it will look a little shimmery.

My favorite way to wear this is under foundation (you can also mix it with foundation). I have tried
brightening primers in the past, such as Benefit's That Gal, but I never really warmed up to them because once I put foundation on top, I couldn't see their brightening benefits anymore. This one is different...the glow comes right through your foundation and it looks like you highlighted your face in all the areas where light hits it!
In this photo below, I'm wearing Flawless Beauty Primer by itself on my arm. It's really hard to capture all this does for your skin in photos, but you can kind of see the my skin looks more radiant, rather than flat and you can also see some shimmery/pearly effects. Once you put foundation on top, you don't see any shimmer, just a gorgeous glow coming through.

Another thing I like to do is use this as an actual highlighter. Once I'm finished applying my foundation, I'll go back and rub a drop of this between my fingers and pat it on my cheekbones and forehead for a little extra highlighting boost.
As far as extending makeup wear, I'm honestly not sure...my dry skin holds on to makeup without primer, so most foundations last all day for me whether I'm wearing primer or not.

One thing I will say is that this primer is moisturizing and oily skin types may find that it's too hydrating...it doesn't have that dry, matte finish of traditional silicone primers. Pixi does make a Flawless and Poreless primer that's oil free and mattifying so I'm guessing oily skin types would probably prefer that formula over this one. This one is really all about brightening dull skin and typically dull skin is dry skin (although normal skin types looking for a little glow would probably like this too). My one piece of advice would be to not use too much! A little goes a long way and you don't want to look too glowy because then it'll translate to shiny.

Honestly, I just can't stop looking at my skin when I wear this primer under my foundation. Every time I'm in front of a mirror I can see that "glow" that I had when I was 16 years old and for me, that's priceless! I'll buy this as long as Pixi continues to make it.

The Bottom Line:
If you're oily or don't need or want additional glow factor for your skin, then you'll probably want to skip this, however if you have normal to dry skin in need of a boost, it's a must-buy...it'll change your life!

You can purchase Flawless Beauty Primer at Pixibeauty.com or at Target.

Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review

$

Elf Lash Tint Mascara ($4 eyeslipsface.com) is part of the brand new Beautifully Bare collection that Elf released a few weeks ago (see my post on all of the new products here). Beautifully Bare is all about "makeup so flawless it looks like you are not even wearing makeup". I purchased all of the products in the line for review, and being the mascara junkie that I am, I decided to test out the Lash Tint mascara first.
Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review

Lash Tint Mascara comes in a beautiful, sleek silver tube that's a nice change from the matte black packaging we're used to seeing from Elf...it looks a bit more upscale and modern.
Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review
Here's the description from the Elf website:
This mascara creates a flawless look that's beautiful and natural-looking. This innovative and revolutionary applicator expertly combs and coats every individual lash for weightless coverage. The rich formula creates buildable volume from root to tip for fuller-looking lashes. If you want your mascara to work double duty, use a small brush grab the mascara on the applicator and smudge along the lash line as an eyeliner for a more dramatic effect! It's makeup so flawless, it feels like you're not even wearing makeup!
Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review
The brush is teeny tiny and actually reminds me a lot of IT Cosmetics Tightline, in that it allows you to get right into the base of your lashes and even deposit a little color there for an eyeliner effect. But that's where the similarities end...Tightline thickens and lengthens, acts as a lash primer, and contains peptides, proteins and vitamins. It's also paraben free. Elf Lash Tint mascara is a pretty basic formula that does contain parabens, so I would only compare this to Tightline in terms of the brush...the formulas are vastly different.
Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review

Here's the brush next to Benefit's They're Real for comparison purposes.  They're Real has a pretty average sized mascara brush, so you can really see how small Lash Tint's brush is!
Elf Lash Tint Mascara Review
Elf Lash Tint, Benefit They're Real!

Here are my before and afters:
Before

After
Elf Lash Tint gives your lashes a very subtle, natural look and added some length but not a lot of volume or oomph to my lashes, even when building multiple coats. I found the formula to be very wet and it felt like it took forever to dry, however I didn't have problems with clumping- the tiny brush gave my lashes nice separation. Later in the day, the heaviness of the wet formula seemed to weigh my lashes down a bit, but on the plus side, I didn't notice any smudging or flaking under my eyes.

Overall, I'm not super impressed with Elf Lash Tint. It's very inexpensive but there are many drugstore mascaras I like more than this one. Maybelline's Lash Discovery has a very similar tiny brush and I like that formula a lot better, so if you're looking for a drugstore mascara with a skinny brush, you may want to check that one out instead.

Too Faced WebsiteiconI just got a sneak peek email of a new foundation from Too Faced for their Fall 2015 Collection- it's called Born This Way and features medium-full coverage with an undetectable feel.

Right now, you can try it free with any Toofaced.com order...you'll receive a sample trio of shades! So if you just can't wait until June 15th, head on over to the Too Faced Website and place an order (it can be any amount).
I'm so excited for this launch! It's going to be exclusive to TooFaced.com first, so you won't see it at Sephora or Ulta on June 15th, but it'll likely arrive in stores shortly after that.

Jordana Twist & Shine Balm Stain Review & Swatches

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain ($2.99 at Walgreens) has been around for a while now but I just recently decided to pick some up.  I have a bit of a chubby lip crayon obsession so it's hard to believe I didn't have any of these, especially since Jordana is one of my favorite budget-friendly drugstore brands. Let's take a look...
Jordana Twist & Shine Balm Stain Review & Swatches

Twist & Shine comes in 10 shades, but half of them were sold out at my Walgreens so I bought the five that were there. These claim to be a moisturizing balm infused with a lightweight stain that applies with a glossy finish, then transforms into a perfect flush of color.
Jordana Twist & Shine Balm Stain Review & Swatches

These are retractable and never need sharpening. I've found that they never get dull because I don't use the point to apply them, I use the sides. They also don't have much of a scent at all...maybe just a hint of fruit, maybe cherry? All I know is, I'm so glad it's not mint! So many of these chubby lip pencils have that minty menthol taste and it dries my lips out like crazy. These feel super moisturizing going on and stay that way. My lips never feel dry when wearing these, even after the glossiness fades away and all that's left is the stain. I was really impressed by that!

I can get about 3+ hours out of these and then the stain sticks around for several more hours. These aren't slippery like gloss...the balm-like texture clings to your lips at first, then sinks right in. They also didn't settle into lines or accentuate dry patches either...a huge plus for me!

Jordana Twist & Shine Balm Stain Review & Swatches
Nude Chic, Sweet Pink, Candied Coral, Honey Love, Gorgeous Peony
The shades are a little on the sheer side at first swipe, but can be easily built up to increase the pigmentation.

Nude Chic is a light nude with a hint of pink and some shimmer. None of the other shades I purchased has shimmer, so I was surprised when I saw that this one did.
Sweet Pink is a light candy-pink shade with cooler undertones.
Candied Coral is definitely a coral shade, but instead of leaning orange like most corals do, it has a lot of pink in it, so it's actually a cooler toned coral. It's great for fair or cooler skin-types.
Honey Love is that perfect mauve-y rosyMLBB shade. It looks a lot darker in the tube than on your lips...it's probably my favorite shade of the bunch!
Gorgeous Peony is very close to Honey Love, but it's slightly lighter and has more pink instead of mauve.

Here they are on my lips...sorry about these photos, it was a very minimal makeup day and I look really tired because my son is getting his 2 year old molars and kept me up a lot last night.  But I really wanted you to see what these look like on because it's hard to tell just by looking at arm swatches.
Nude Chic

Sweet Pink

Candied Coral

Honey Love

Gorgeous Peony
Overall, these are fantastic. They're about a third of the price of the Revlon Balm Stains and don't have that minty taste. Plus, they're long lasting and never make my lips feel dry. I'm so happy I found these and I definitely want to find the other 5 shades!
To see the entire range, please visit Jordana's website, or head over to your local Walgreens.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Review

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation ($8.99) is brand new for Summer 2015 and I spotted it about two weeks ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond along with some other new CoverGirl products (see that post here).  I've been using it for a little over a week now, so I wanted to give you guys a quick review/first impression since I've had a lot of requests since this came out. Let's take a look...
Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Review

Stay Luminous comes packaged in an almost identical bottle as the Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation that launched a while back. I remember really wanting to like that one because it had amazing staying power and great coverage but it wasn't a match for my dry skin...it clung to dry patches like nobody's business and gave my already dull complexion a really flat look.
This formula, on the other hand has all the benefits of the Stay Fabulous, but it's actually hydrating!
Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Review
The formula is so creamy-it doesn't cling to dry patches and feels very comfortable on my skin. It's a medium thickness and feels very smooth during application. I actually use my fingers to apply it rather than a brush or beauty blender because it's so easy to work with. It has medium coverage that can be built up a bit and it covers most of my imperfections, although I still use a concealer under my eyes and around my nose.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous in Creamy Natural

With the word "Luminous" in the name, I was concerned that this would be full of shimmer, but surprisingly, it's not. There is a tiny bit of shimmer, but it's almost undetectable unless you're looking at it in full sunlight. Even then, it's very subtle, so you don't have to worry about the disco-ball effect.  I didn't find that it gave my skin that much of a luminous effect like some other foundations I've tried such as IT Cosmetics CC+ Illumination, for example.  It really just prevented my skin from looking dull and flat and helped the light bounce off of it better.
So really, it's the perfect formula for someone who wants to give their dull skin a little pick-me-up but doesn't want noticeable shimmer.
I was also really impressed with the wear time.  Just like the Outlast Stay Fabulous formula, Stay Luminous lasts all day on me with no fading! I'm not sure how it will fare on more oily skin types though, because I do find it to be more creamy than Stay Fabulous.

I chose the shade Creamy Natural, which is the second-to-lightest shade. I've gotten a little color from being outside this spring so it's a little too light for me right now (come winter, it'll be perfect). Unfortunately, there are only 7 shades right now which isn't a great range, but I'm hoping that they'll add more at some point.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous in Creamy Natural
Overall, I'm seriously loving this foundation so far. It gives really nice coverage with a beautiful satiny finish and just a hint of glow. The creamy formula is one of very few that I can say doesn't cling to my dry patches or accentuate fine lines. I do think it's best suited for normal to dry skin types, but if you have oily skin and have tried this, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

New Cake Beauty Be Delectable at Kohls

Canadian brand Cake Beauty has been at Kohls for a while now with their line of deliciously scented bath and body treats, but recently, I spotted a new collection called Natural Beauty that boasts high-end ingredients and natural formulas that are free of parabens, sodium chloride, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, GMOs, mineral oil, petrolatum, gluten & triclosan.  Let's take a closer look...

The first two products I spotted were the Daily Dry Oil ($18)and Bronzing Body Lotion ($20).  Since I have super pale skin and am afraid of self tanners because they tend to look unnatural on me, I'm intrigued by body bronzers because they offer a no-commitment glow. I'll be honest, when I first saw this, it looked orange and shimmery in the bottle, but I pumped a little on my arm and rubbed it in. Oh.My.God this stuff is amazing! It left the most beautiful, subtle glow that's perfect for fair skin and it absorbed so, so fast, it was dry in like, 10 seconds. It also made my skin feel like silk. I added a little bit more to see if you could build the color, and you definitely can, while still looking totally natural and not orange at all! I wanted to buy it right then and there but it was sold out...I'm guessing everyone else that tried it had to have it too! Then I went to another Kohls nearby and they only had 1 left, so I got one immediately. I was so amazed by the bronzing lotion, I didn't end up trying the Daily Dry Oil, but I plan to go back and try it out.

Here's a sign they had for the bronzing lotion...it literally does everything it claims to do.  I have tried other body bronzers in the past but they're always thick and tacky and take forever to dry. They're also usually too dark for my skin and end up looking strange once I go outside.  Not this one...it just melts into your skin so easily and feels like silk, all while looking like a natural tan. I plan to stock up on this and order more online because it's sold out in all of the Kohls near me now that I bought the last one.
The other two products in the line are the Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream ($12) and the Triple Moisture Body Lotion ($14).  Both are unscented, which I actually like because they won't compete with my perfume. Once I used the testers, I was completely sold and purchased them both. They have a thick, ultra moisturizing texture that feels like whipped butter but they soak in really really fast, so within a minute, they're completely dry and my skin feels like velvet with no residue.
I plan to post full reviews on all of these products after I've used them for a while, but I wanted to let you know about these so you can test them out the next time you're at Kohls.  I happened to grab these while they were 30% off, so if you wait for a sale, you can get a pretty good deal, especially if you have coupons. I got the Bronzing Lotion, Hand Cream and Body Cream for a total of $32!
You can check out these products plus the rest of the Cake Beauty Be Delectable line at Kohls.

When it comes to girly and adorable packaging, Too Faced never fails to disappoint.  I spotted these brand new blushes on Too Faced creator Jerrod Blandino's Instagram page and I cannot wait until these come out...I want them all!
They're the Love Flush blushes, new for Fall 2015 (so they should be launching in the next few weeks) and just like the Sweethearts blush, they come in heart shaped containers...except instead of cardboard, these are in beautiful plastic compacts! Keep reading after the jump for inside photos...

On the box, it says "Long-lasting 16-hour blush" and it looks like they come in 6 shades, but there definitely could be more.

Here are all of the shades inside the compacts...how pretty are these?! I want every color.
The powder has a cute raised pattern with bunnies and flowers...here's a close-up:

I feel like I'm having a What About Bob moment right now- Gimmie Gimmie, I need, I need I need! Ah, love that movie, haha!

I have no idea how much these will be yet, or when they'll arrive in stores or on TooFaced.com, but I'm going to guess we'll see them next month.  The new Born This Way foundation I posted about the other day is also part of the Fall 2015 collection and the release date for that is June 15th. Stay tuned!

Maybelline Dream Bronze BB Review and Swatches

Maybelline Dream Bronze BB ($6.99) is a brand new 8-in-1 Beauty Balm that adds a sunkissed glow to your skin, just in time for summer. I recently spotted this at Bed, Bath and Beyond and couldn't resist buying one to try. Let's take a closer look...

Dream Bronze claims to give you 8 benefits in 1 product:
1. Illuminates
2. Warms Skintone
3. Evens
4. Veils Imperfections
5. Protects with SPF 25
6. Hydrates
7. Smoothes
8. Refreshes
It comes in a squeeze tube that's almost identical to the Dream Fresh and Dream Pure BB cream, except this one is white with bronze accents. It comes in two shades: Light Medium and Medium Deep and I was happy about that because a lot of bronzing products come in a one-shade-fits-all formula and most are too dark for my fair skin.
Dream Bronze in Light/Medium starts out a medium tan shade that's just a little deeper than my own skintone.
This is what it looks like in the shade and indoors. I was impressed right away that it's not orange at all, it leans more toward brown/tan and I couldn't see any shimmer.
Here it is blended out a little bit more...still no shimmer or orange tone.
Until I went into the sun...woah! It actually sparkles a lot in the sunlight and looks a little more orange, which bummed me out a bit.
Here it is completely blended out, and it's a little bit better. You can still see my original skin color near the top of the photo.
Even though I'm not crazy about the shimmer, that's not my main concern with this product. What I don't like about it is the lack of coverage. I have some sun spots and freckling on my face that I don't need to cover completely but I do like to tone them down a bit. When I used this, it just looked like I had applied a bronzing gel, there was no coverage at all (at least that I could tell). So I really don't think I would wear this alone unless I had flawless skin that didn't need any coverage (like when I was a teenager).
I suppose I could mix it with my foundation to create a deeper tone, but honestly, I could just go and buy a foundation that's a few shades darker which I tend to do in the summer anyway.  Then at least I wouldn't have all the shimmer.
Overall, I do like the feel of the formula...it's light, hydrating and makes my skin feel soft.  But for me, the lack of coverage means that I probably won't be using this on my face. But that being said, I may repurpose this as a body bronzing gel! It's a nice color and I could use it to warm up my pasty pale legs and add a little glow. :)
What do you think? Have you tried this yet? Do you want to?

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Lipstick ($25) is brand new and is the first Lipstick Queen product I've tried. I've been hearing about the brand for quite a while on various blogs and on YouTube but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on one...until now. The Frog Prince was one of my favorite stories growing up...I used to watch it over and over on VHS with my sisters when we were kids. Our favorite was a version that was made in the 1980's with Helen Hunt as the mean sister Henrietta and Aileen Quinn (Annie!) as Princess Zora. Ok, now that I'm talking about it I want to see it again but I'm pretty sure the tape we had is completely worn out...and I don't have a VCR anymore.  Time to check YouTube, haha! Anyway, I digress, I'm supposed to be talking about lipstick.  Let's take a look...
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches

Frog Prince lipstick is a bright shade of lilypad green when you first open the tube, but fear not, it contains the "chameleon" pigment, which reacts to your own unique PH as well as light and moisture to turn your lips into a fairytale-princess worthy rosebud pink. The general idea of lip products that react to your chemistry isn't new, but the chameleon pigment in this one does it better than others I've tried in the past (see more on that below).
First, let's talk about the packaging! It comes in a pink and green box that has a scene on one side of a frog reclining on a lilypad with a castle in the background. The lipstick tube is a beautiful metallic pink with emerald green accents, two colors I wouldn't have thought to put together but somehow they work.
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches
When I first swatched it, it looked almost clear, only darkening my skin a tiny bit. After a few minutes, I checked on it again and it was a light shade of pink.
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches
On my lips, it turns into the perfect rosebud shade. Most of the color-changing lipsticks I've tried have turned my lips a bright fuchsia that I would never wear on a regular basis but this one is a perfect MLBB. It compliments my fair skin nicely and isn't overwhelming at all, although you can add layers to darken it up a bit.  The formula is described as "semi-sheer" and it feels so moisturizing...like a balm. It feels lightweight and yet, when I press my lips together, I can feel the soft buttery formula nourishing them with much-needed hydration.
Another bonus is that the color actually stains your lips, so it stuck around for the majority of the day. The initial glossy finish wears off after an hour or so and you're left with a stain that doesn't feel dry at all...the balm-like comfort sticks around for a long time.
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches
Overall, I love this shade and the buttery formula of this lipstick! My only problem is that now I want to try more from Lipstick Queen and I definitely can't afford to be spending that kind of money on lipsticks.  So for now, it'll have to be a once-in-a-while splurge.
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches
By the way, I did find the Frog Prince on YouTube...it's broken into several parts. I took a break from this post and watched some of it. Seeing it now many years later as an adult, it's super cheesy and I found myself thinking, "I liked this??!" but it's still nostalgic for me. And wow...I forgot that Helen Hunt can play quite the mean girl! I'll have to add it to the list of movies to watch with my son when he's a little older.

Makeup Revolution Go Palette Review and Swatches

The Makeup Revolution Go Palette ($5.98) is such an incredible palette, I'm kind of sad I didn't review it sooner! I originally got it free with a purchase during the Black Friday sale and I kept meaning to do a review and swatches but there were so many new products coming out for the new year that it kept getting pushed back. Then the other day, I was thinking that I haven't done a Makeup Revolution review in a while, so I took this baby out and couldn't believe how great it is. And...it's an exact Naked 3 dupe, well at least the 6 eyeshadows that are in here are. Keep reading to see my comparison swatches at the end of this post.
Makeup Revolution Go Palette Review and Swatches

The Go Palette is meant to be a something you can just throw in a bag and go...it has 6 eyeshadows, a blush, bronzer and highlighter. It's a large flat disc shape (about the size of a CD, only thicker), so it's not the smallest palette for traveling with, however it does have a lot of product in it and because of it's size, the pans are larger and easier to get my fingers or a brush in there so I don't mind. I'm just not a fan of travel palettes with tiny little eyeshadows in general.
Makeup Revolution Go Palette Review and Swatches

The eyeshadows are really beautiful rose-toned neutrals and there's a nice range of shades including a matte white (actually, off-white) and shimmery pinks, bronze, brown and dark purple. The pigmentation is excellent, as usual. I can easily compare these shadows to Urban Decay or Too Faced...it's amazing to get this level of buttery, pigmented shadows in a $6 palette...just crazy.

Makeup Revolution Go Palette Review and Swatches
Makeup Revolution Go Palette Review and Swatches

The blush, bronzer and highlight are a little more subtle.  The highlighter is a white with a hint of pink in it, while the blush is a candy pink shade. I was most surprised by the bronzer which looked light brown in the pan but swatched more of a pinky brown. As a fair-skinned person, I love a pinky brown bronzer because it mimics a real tan. Fair skin usually gets pink when you're out in the sun and then turns tan later but it still keeps that pink tone to it...at least mine does. So I always look for pink-toned bronzers because they look the most natural on me. It's just a hard thing to find because most are warm and have yellow/orange undertones, so I was really happy with this one.

When I first saw the Go Palette, I didn't immediately think of the Naked 3 palette, but as I was swatching the eyeshadows, they were starting to look really familiar to me.  So I took out my Naked 3 to compare them and while I was at it, I took out my Naked Flushed palette to see if the blush/bronzer/highlighter combo was a match as well.
Naked 3 dupe

The eyeshadows turned out to be exact dupes! I knew they would be close, but I had no idea how close...I can't tell the difference in these swatches at all.

The blush, bronzer and highlighter shades weren't a match, but Urban Decay does make the Flushed Palettes in a few other shade combinations so maybe there's a dupe out there (mine is the shade Native). Still, it's a similar idea even if the colors don't match 100%.
M.R. Highlight, U.D. Highlight, M.R. Blush, U.D. Blush, M.R. Bronzer, U.D. Bronzer
Overall, the Makeup Revolution Go Palette is an incredible deal at only $5.98! Not only are the colors super silky and pigmented, but this is like a travel version of the Naked 3 with 6 identical dupes in it, not to mention a similar to the Naked Flushed blush, bronzer and highlighter. I'll be using this all summer and bringing it on vacation with me for sure!
You can find the Go Palette at Makeup Revolution's website
If you're in the U.S. and you visit the Makeup Revolution website, just be sure to switch the currency over to USD to see the prices in dollars, since this is a UK based site.
