New Physicians Formula Super BB and Super CC Spotted in Stores!

Physicians Formula has added some new products to their existing Super BB and Super CC lines and I spotted them today at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
The Super BB Stick ($11.29) looks like a highlighter or stick foundation, but the description says that it perfects, conceals, smoothes, brightens, moisturizes, protects, firms, primes and fills, softens lines, and is long-wearing. Phew! I hope it can really do all that!
The All-in-One Beauty Balm for Cheeks and Lips ($5.99) looks like an Eos Lip Balm...it's a little silver and white ball with a balm inside that can be used on lips and cheeks! I'm not sure if it's a stain or just color, but I purchased one so we'll soon fimd out! It comes in two shades: Pink and Peach.
The All-in-One Beauty Balm Bronzer and Blush Duo ($11.29) looks interesting as well! It's supposed to have airbrushing and line-softening properties, and comes in two shades...Light and Light/Medium.
The Super CC Compact Cream ($11.99) is supposed to be anti-aging and color correcting. Cream makeup tends to get heavy and cakey on me, but they also give a lot of coverage so I'm really hoping I like this one!

The Super CC Instant Blurring Eye Cream ($11.29) is supposed to be an eye cream, primer, concealer, and eye shadow base! This is another product I just had to buy. The packaging says that it instantly blurs around the eye area, so I'm really excited to try it!

All of the products have instant $3 off coupons on them so if you decide to go pick these up, don't forget to use the coupons!
Do any of these new products sound interesting to you? Are you planning on trying any of them?

Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick Review and Swatches

Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick ($5.79 at Bed, Bath & Beyond) is a new release for Spring 2015 and is the second Colorlicious product to launch (after the lip glosses this past Spring).  To me, the square tubes look very similar to the Lip Perfection, which has been on clearance at multiple drugstores lately.  I'm assuming these will be replacing them in their lineup.  I only saw a collection of pinks and nudes at my local BBB, but I've heard that they are also releasing berries and reds as well.  I picked up four shades to try...two nudes and two pinks.  Let's take a look!
The tubes have a slightly shiny, metallic finish to them and correspond to the color family they belong to.  The bottom of the tube is clear, which I thought would allow me to judge the color inside, but I was wrong...
The first pink shade I picked up, Sweetheart Blush, looked so pretty based on the bottom of the tube, but it ended up being a frost. Yuck.  Why brands continue to make frosty lipstick is beyond me... 1985 called...they want their lipstick back! The other shades I bought weren't frosts (thankfully), but I hear from other bloggers that there are quite a few in this line.

These go on feeling very smooth and nourishing, almost like a balm which felt comforting on my dry lips.  The color payoff was also pretty good, but to me these don't seem too much different than the old lip perfections...it's a slightly revamped formula and feels a little smoother and silkier, but I don't think these give quite the same level of coverage- they're a bit more sheer.  It seems like Covergirl is trying to appeal to a younger demographic these days with Katy Perry as their spokesmodel, so I think a smoother, sheerer formula is what they were going for.
The fragrance/flavor kind of reminded me of chemicals or play-doh, with a hint of vanilla cookie...not the greatest scent ever.
From Left: Sweetheart Blush, Darling Kiss, Caramel Kiss, Honeyed Bloom

Sweetheart Blush was a light frosty pink.

Darling Kiss was a rosy pink.

Caramel Kiss was a honey nude.

Honeyed Bloom was a nude-pink
Overall, I'm just sort of meh about these. They varied with wear time...the lighter shades faded within 3 hours or so, but the darker shade I tried, Darling Kiss, lasted twice as long because it stained my lips. The pigmentation was decent, but I also noticed that they settled into the cracks of my lips pretty fast, so even though they feel smooth, they don't necessarily look smooth. I'm also not crazy about the scent, and I wish that they labeled the tubes to let buyers know if it's a frost or a shimmer or a matte so we don't have to guess or be surprised.

Have you seen these in the stores or have you tried them yet?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-1 Beauty Balm Cheek and Lip Review

Physicians Formula has recently added some new products to their Super BB line for Spring 2015. This All-in-1 Beauty Balm for Lips and Cheeks ($5.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond) was so cute, I had to get one and try it out. Have a look!

The packaging says," 1st ever Beauty Balm for cheek and lip. High-tech and multi tasking, sheer and buildable formula instantly enhances the natural color of your cheeks and lips while combining UVA/UVB protection, brightening antioxidants, moisturizing and firming botanicals and perfecting optical diffusers for super-powerful skin care + makeup benefits in one!"

Here's the ingredients panel:

This Beauty Balm comes in a cute little round pot, very similar to Eos. I like the packaging because it's easy to toss in my bag and easy to find once it's in there. But if you're looking for something to fit in a clutch or small bag, you may find this to be too bulky.

I chose the Berry Pink shade, but it also comes in Natural Peach. The balm is in a rounded dome shape and it goes on easily, but the color is very subtle and doesn't have a shiny finish like a gloss or lip balm would.  It leaves a very thin, almost weightless layer on your lips and cheeks that dries to a powder finish.  There's no glossiness and it's not super moisturizing like a lip balm would be, so I actually prefer to use this on my cheeks.  It gives my lips a tiny bit of moisture, but this time of year I need a lot.  Next time, I may try to apply this over lip balm because it's not enough for me by itself.

Here's a before and after of my lips.  You can see that the color is just a hint of pink with more of a matte finish.
Here's a swatch on my arm...you can see how light and barely-there the color is.

Overall, I love this balm for my cheeks, because it gives a really natural wash of color and is super easy and convenient to use and blend. I'm not totally sold on it for my lips because it's lacking in moisture, but it'll definitely do in a pinch when I need a 2-in-1 product to do my makeup on the go.

Have you seen these in stores yet, or tried them? They currently have a $3 off instant coupon right on the box so it brings the price down to only $3!

Maybelline Master Prime Review and Swatches

$

Maybelline Master Prime primers ($7.79 at Bed, Bath and Beyond) are new for Spring 2015 and come in three formulations- Clear, Green (to reduce redness), and Pink (to illuminate dull skin). I posted photos of these in BBB last week and they should be arriving at regular drugstores between now and the new year.
I purchased the clear and the pink shades to try, since I don't have redness, but I do have dry skin that tends to look dull and could use a boost.
Master Prime comes in 1oz. tubes with twist-off caps. These are being marketed as "weightless blurring primers", so I was expecting them to be a lighter version of Loreal's Miracle Blur since Maybelline is owned by L'oreal.

The claims are:
  • Visually blurs tone imperfections and smoothes fine lines.
  • Primes skin for a smooth start.
  • Lightweight, non-oily formula.
  • Does not clog pores.
Right away, I noticed that they said it blurs tone imperfections but it doesn't mention anything about blurring pores.  I also noticed that this doesn't claim to be mattifying or oil-absorbing so I didn't expect those types of results from this.

Clear- Blur + Smooth

Pink- Blur + Illuminate

Master Prime is very lightweight and I was surprised to see that it looks like a cream or lotion rather than the clear silicone gel-like formulas.  The Blur + Smooth comes out white but disappears when blended.  The Blur + Illuminate has a subtle pink pearlized tint and when blended, it gives the skin a little bit of a glow.  I found that these blend in very quickly and don't feel greasy at all.  Yet they feel comfortable and slightly moisturizing on my dry skin, unlike the oil-absorbing or mattifying types.
As I suspected, this didn't do much to blur my noticeable pores on my nose...I still needed to use my NYX Pore Filler, but it definitely gave my skin an allover blurry airbrushed look that I really liked.
Left: Blur + Smooth, Right: Blur + Illuminate
Below I blended each shade out a little bit more so you can see how they look different on the skin. When blended in completely, you can't see them at all, but here, the pink one on the right definitely looks more glowy.  I also tested them by applying the clear to one side of my face and the pink to the other side and I could definitely tell the difference.  The clear side looked smooth and airbrushed, but the side of my face where I used the pink primer looked brighter and healthier, in addition to being smoother. It was a very subtle difference to the point where it wouldn't show up in a photograph, but I could tell by looking at it.
Left: Blur + Smooth, Right: Blur + Illuminate
I should also mention that these have a light fragrance that smells kind of soapy and clean, like a body lotion or hand cream. It's a nice scent and I personally don't mind it, but I wanted to let you guys know in case you're fragrance-sensitive.  Most primers I've tried have no scent, so it was a surprise to see that these did.
Overall, I really like these primers!  They gave my skin a smooth finish to prep for foundation and a slightly blurry, airbrushed look.  I was also really impressed with the pink shade, as it brightened up my complexion in a non-obvious, natural looking way. I also liked how lightweight they felt and they just sank right in with no residue.  I didn't notice too much in the way of mattifying, although I'm almost never shiny so it's hard to tell.  They don't claim to mattify, so if you're oily I can't promise that these will do that.  But I think most skin-types will appreciate the non-heavy, non-greasy feel of these.

Have you tried these yet, or seen them around?  I'd love to know what you think!

New! Makeup Revolution Ultra Velour Lip Cream

Makeup Revolution, one of my favorite new brands, is always coming out with new products every time I turn around. I already feel like I have an unhealthy obsession with them and I've spent more money on their products than I care to admit.  But the quality is amazing and the prices are just too good!

They've released more new products this week, including the Ultra Velour Lip Creams ($4.74 each).  There are 10 shades on the MR website currently, and the swatches they show of each shade on their website look really impressive!

The description reads:
"Love Intensive Colour, Cream Finish & Comfortable Wear ? Get a Lip formulation first! Ultra Velour Lip Cream.
Our stunning new lip creams give you a VELOUR matte finish with ULTRA Intensive Colour, they apply SMOOTH, and FEEL amazing COMFORTABLE to wear."

They seem to be focused on the comfortable aspect, so I'm hoping that this will be the first matte lip cream that won't make my lips dry! I wonder if they're anything like NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams or if they're something totally new.  I can't wait to find out!

Maybelline Master Conceal Review and Swatches

$

Maybelline Master Conceal ($6.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond) is a new concealer that was just released for Spring 2015.  I spotted them last week along with the new Master Prime primers (review here) and you should be seeing them in drugstores very soon if they're not there already.
It comes in 5 shades and I was excited when I saw the Fair shade (all the way to the right, below) because based on the tube color, it looked like it's a peachy pink toned shade, which works better with my fair skin than yellow-based concealers.  Plus, my under eye circles tend to be blue-ish toned so I learned in a color theory class that orange (or peach) cancels blue since they're opposites on the color wheel.

Master Conceal comes in a .4 oz. tube with a tapered tip for easier control. I like concealers that come in tubes like this rather than with an applicator because I tend to apply it with a Beauty Blender anyway and don't really use the applicator.

Here are the claims:

Master Conceal by Face Studio from Maybelline New York is a master concealer. Our formula camouflages imperfections and dark circles with ultra-resistant full coverage. Maximum conceal. No reveal.
  • Laser-thin camouflaging concealer
  • Ultra-concentrated formula plus no buildup
  • Camouflages flaws and dark circles with no telltale cover
  • Full coverage, undetectable finish

Ingredients:
AQUA / WATER/EAU, DIMETHICONE,GLYCERIN,DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER,BUTYLENE GLYCOL,POLYGLYCERYL-3 DISILOXANE,DIMETHICONE,VINYL DIMETHICONE/METHICONE SILSESQUIOXANE CROSSPOLYMER,METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER,PHENOXYETHANOL,BORON NITRIDE,POLYACRYLAMIDE,AMMONIUM POLYACRYLDIMETHYLTAURAMIDE / AMMONIUM,POLYACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE,C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN,CAPRYLYL GLYCOL,TETRASODIUM EDTA,CITRIC ACID,LAURETH-7, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE (F.I.L. D166413/3)

The texture is medium weight- it's not so thin that it's runny, but it's not thick and paste-like either.  It has no discernable scent and I found it easy to blend.

Master Conceal claims to have full coverage, but I feel like it's more medium-to-full.  I've used some truly full-coverage concealers that will even cover tattoos and this won't do that, so I can't say it's completely full coverage.  That said, it does cover quite a bit of under eye darkness, which was impressive because it spreads out very thin and almost undetectable.  You only need a tiny bit, a little goes a long way! I didn't have problems with it sinking into fine lines under my eyes and it felt comfortable and hydrating.
I found the Fair shade to lean peachy-orange rather than pink, which is great for hiding dark circles.

Overall, I really like the way this concealer covers without being heavy. It's also easy to build the coverage up because it's not thick or cakey. I'm not sure how it'll hold up on oily skin, but it stayed put on my dry skin without creasing or settling into my fine lines. I think this is a great choice if you're looking for a combination of medium-to-full coverage, blendability, and a lightweight texture that melts into the skin.

Hey all! Just wanted to update you quick on the comments section of the blog...I was previously using Disqus and a lot of you were telling me that you hated it...you didn't want to have to create an account or login just to post a comment, and felt that it wasn't user-friendly.
So I've gone back to Blogger's standard comment form which should make posting comments quick and easy for you (and anonymous if you so choose).
Unfortunately, when I got rid of Disqus, they took all my comments with them.  So all of your comments on my posts for the last 6 months or so have been deleted. :(  I was told that this wouldn't happen and that the Disqus comments would revert back to Blogger- but that didn't happen.

So anyway, please keep those comments coming!  I love reading and responding to each and every one of you- you're all the reason why I do this every day and I'm so grateful that you continue to come back and read this blog every day.

L'oreal Brow Stylist Plumper spotted at Walgreens!

$

I just spotted the new L'oreal Brow Stylist Plumper, and in a strange twist, for once it wasn't at Bed, Bath and Beyond, it was at Walgreens! Normally BB&B always has new products first but I was so glad to see this at a regular drugstore because a lot of you tell me your local BB&B doesn't have a beauty section. So I'm hoping you'll be able to find this near you!
It was way up high on a shelf, so I apologize for the crappy picture. They're promoting three brow products for 2015. Brow Designer (new), Brow Sculptor (released this past summer), and Brow Stylist Plumper (new).
Brow Designer is a brow pencil with a spoolie brush on the other end. It comes in three shades: Blonde, Brunette, and Dark Brunette.
Brow Sculptor is a brow pencil with a brow wax on the other end. It also comes in Blonde, Brunette, and Dark Brunette.
Brow Stylist Plumper is a fiber brow gel mascara that comes in Light-to-Medium, Medium-to-Dark, and Transparent.

If I'm being totally honest, I'm only really excited about the Brow Stylist Plumper! I'm hoping it's a dupe for Benefit's Gimme Brow, which is my favorite brow product (next to Divaderme Brow Extender).
I purchased it so here are a few close-up shots of the Light-to-Medium shade in it's packaging:

I'll of course do a full review of this outside of the packaging this week! One thing I'm loving so far is the size...it looks like a regular mascara tube! It's .27oz. for $8.99 compared with Benefit's Gimme Brow being only .1oz. for $22! So this is almost triple the size. I really, really hope it's a dupe!
Have you seen this in your area yet?

Julep Maven December 2014 Unboxing Bombshell

I just got my Julep Maven box this week and this month I decided to switch things up!  I've been getting their Modern Beauty Box for the past 6 months or so which contains 2 full-sized beauty products each month (no nail polishes).   On Nov, 20th when I logged in to see what I was getting, I saw that the modern beauty box contained an eyeshadow and an eyeshadow primer.  I have so many eyeshadow primers and some of the nail polish boxes looked so pretty, I decided to switch to the Bombshell box which still had the eyeshadow, but also contained 2 nail polishes (plus I added one more on...couldn't resist!).

Julep Maven December 2014 Bombshell Box

Here's what the Bombshell box had inside:

Orbital Eyeshadow ($14.40) in Equinox (pewter with silvery purple pearlescence). Julep allows you to choose the shade you want, but I liked the one that already came in the box, so I left it alone.
Equinox- Pewter with Silvery Purple Pearlescence

Equinox- Pewter with Silvery Purple Pearlescence
It also came with two nail polishes, a beautiful rose gold and a blue with gold microshimmer.  When I was looking at the other boxes, I also liked the gorgeous boysenberry shade in the It Girl box called Rochelle, so I added that on for $7 more.
Soleil, Paula & Rochelle (Rochelle was an add-on)

Paula- Persian Blue with Gold Microshimmer
Soleil- Rose Gold Metallic Chrome

Rochelle- Boysenberry Shimmer

Once again, I'm really happy with my Julep Maven box this month!  I may switch back to the Modern Beauty box in January, but it depends on what's in it.  Right now I have several new nail polishes to play with so that should keep me content for a while!

If you're interested in trying Julep Maven for $19.95 a month, please use one of the links below and use the coupon codes on them and you'll get some free extras!

Maybelline Color Molten Eyeshadow Review + Swatches

Maybelline Color Molten Eyeshadows ($6.29 at Bed, Bath and Beyond) are a new release for Spring 2015 and come in 8 different duos. Take a look!

I chose two different shades to review-305 Plum Fusion, and 301 Taupe Craze.  The description reads:
Cream-powder texture lets colors blend seamlessly for a refined, lustrous finish.
  • Now shadow melts to a new molten luster
  • Never smudgy, never harsh
  • Blend seamlessly for a refined, lustrous finish

Directions
Apply lighter shade along the base and lid. Then blend darker shade along the crease and liner for a seamless, dimensional look.

Here's a close-up of each duo:

Maybelline Color Molten Plum Fusion

Maybelline Color Molten Taupe Craze
In the store, I couldn't tell if these were powders or creams, but with a name like "Molten" I assumed they would be creams and it turns out I was right.  The thing is, they're not like any other cream shadow I've tried...they're extremely lightweight to the point where you can barely feel them on your fingers when you swipe them across the product. This results in a barely-there feeling on your eyelids which is nice, but unfortunately, the pigment just isn't there. Below are the swatches and this is the amount of color I got after I rubbed my finger back and forth across each shade 4-5 times each.
Plum Fusion had better pigmentation than Taupe Craze, but I just found them difficult to build up and I couldn't even see them well on my eyelids.
When I saw the word "molten" I was expecting an intense, shiny eyeshadow with lots of pigment, but that's not what these are at all.  They are sheer and super lightweight.  I actually like how they just melt into your skin and you can't feel that they're there, but I think that pigmentation was sacrificed in trying to make them a light texture.  As far as lasting power goes, I got several hours wear out of them, but they were so sheer that it was difficult to see them even when first applied.
I did have a little bit more luck applying them with my ELF Smudger Brush, which is a stiff synthetic eyeshadow brush with short bristles.  It picked up the product nicely and helped to pack it on my eyelids a little thicker so it was more noticeable.
But overall, these are just meh.  I was just expecting more from these based on the name, but then again I never have any luck with Maybelline eyeshadows (except for Color Tattoos which are my fave!).
Have you seen these out in stores yet, or have you tried them out?  I'd love to hear what you think!

Memebox Princess Edition #1 Snow White Review and Unboxing

It's time for another Memebox review!  This week, I received one of the Princess Edition boxes and I was psyched because I had seen these on their site, but never expected to get one...yay!  This box is the Snow White edition...and you guessed it!  It's packed with 6 full-sized products to even out your skintone and fade spots.  Now that I'm in my mid-thirties, I've come to realize how important an even tone is for anti-aging...it's not all about wrinkles!  When I look back at photos of myself in my 20's I had such clear, even skin and now I have all these freckles and sun spots to cover up and it definitely makes me look older...probably even more than fine lines do (this is yet another reason to wear sunscreen!).  So this box was a very welcome sight!

Princess Edition #1 Snow White: Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? You, with the Snow White Box, of course! The cooler months spell for the perfect time to brighten up skin, even out uneven complexions, and target pesky dark spots! Whatever the shade of the rainbow your skin color is, optimize your skin's radiance and clarity for luminous, glowing skin.

Memebox always sends these cards which have a lot of information about each product and how to use it.  Below, I'll link to each product in the Memebox store, but if they're not available, please make sure to add it to your wishlist, because if enough people are looking for a certain product, Memebox may start to stock it going forward!

original raw First Essence (Red Essence)

Product Description
The Red Essence is a combination of a skin toner, an essence, and a lotion all in one. Also, it's enriched with various vitamins, nutrients and dragon’s blood extracts from the dragon tree and work to instantly rejuvenate and brighten up the damaged or sagging skin.

How to use
After cleansing, wet a cotton pad with 2~3 drops of First Essence and gently pat it all over your face.

My Take
I've been following the Korean Skincare routine and steps for a while now, but I haven't owned an essence yet, so I'm excited about this.  An essence is basically a lighter, more watery version of a serum and goes on just before a serum, since products are layered from lightest to heaviest.  This one has a nice fresh, clean scent that I love, and I can't wait to add this in to my routine!

FACEFLUX Anti-Wrinkle Revitalizing Cream

Product Description
Enriched with ceramide, hyaluronic acid, lemon verbena extracts, shea butter and portulaca extracts, the Anti-Wrinkle Revitalizing Cream works to brighten up dulled complexion, to relieve stimulated or sensitive skin, and to treat signs of fine lines and wrinkles for a younger and healthier-looking complexion overall.

How to use
Apply the cream evenly over your face and pat it in for full absorbance.

My Take
Anti-wrinkle creams are always important to me and this one has a nice texture that melts into my skin and makes it feel so hydrated and soft! I'll be using this after my current anti-wrinkle cream is gone.

Ipsenature 5 Seeds Apple Water Brightening Scrub

Product Description
Made from apple water and apricot, raspberry, walnut, rice, and corn seed powders, this Brightening Scrub is a cleansing scrub which works to gently peel away all dead skin cells and skin impurities and deliver skin replenishing and brightening effects all in one!

How to use
Spread out the scrub evenly over your wet face and massage with your hands for 5 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

My Take
I was expecting this to smell like apples given the name, but it kind of smelled like Vicks Vapo-rub. However, I can get past the smell because I like how gentle, yet effective this scrub is!  It's a thick creamy scrub, not one of those ones that's full of oil that you have to mix so it's perfect for your face and not only scrubs dead skin away, but also dissolves it thanks to all of the fruit acids inside.

Morningtree Revitalizing Whitening Deep Spot

Product Description
Excessive melanic pigmentation is responsible for darkened spots all of your body – face, hands, arm pits, busts, elbows, knees, heels, and even the Y-zone. This high concentrate, gel-type essence will soothe, cool, brighten, and repair such dry and darkened spots, and it’s suitable for all skin types and for both men and women.

How to use
Apply an adequate amount of the Revitalizing Whitening Deep Spot over dark spots and massage it in for full absorbance. You can also store it in a refrigerator, and then apply it over puffy eyes for soothing and whitening effects.

My Take

This gel comes in a really convenient rollerball tube that makes it easy to just treat certain spots.  I have one that keeps getting darker on my forehead so I'll be using this on that spot every day to see if there's improvement. I like that you can also use this for darkness under your eyes...the rollerballs are cooling and I can totally see using this when I haven't gotten a lot of sleep.

Daltokki Whitening Essence

Product Description
All you need is a single drop of Daltokki’s Whitening Essence mixed with a facial cream for a whitening & moisturizing effect, with a sunblock for creating the naturally brightened skin tone, and with a BB cream or a foundation for creating the fully covered and perfectly toned up complexion.

How to use
Mix in a drop of the Whitening Essence with a cream, a sunblock, or a BB cream for the effect you desire. Suitable for both facial and body application.

My Take
Once I got past the human bunny or whatever that is on the bottle (lol!) I was really intrigued by this product! It's a light pink lotion that can be mixed in with foundation to brighten the skin. I've seen some products here in the US that you can mix with foundation to brighten but they always contain shimmer.  I love that this one doesn't!

Nella Fantasia Oneday Whitener

Product Description
This is a magically whitening body lotion that instantly moisturizes and brightens up dry, coarse, and darkened skin tone for a lasting glow all day long. It’s also non-sticky and strong against water and sweat.

How to use
Apply an adequate amount of the lotion evenly over areas of your body you wish to moisturize and brighten up. Make sure to massage it in until all’s absorbed into the skin.

My Take
I'm obsessed with this lotion! It actually whitens right away, so you don't have to wait.  It doesn't leave you looking like a ghost or anything like that...it just immediately tones down redness and discolorations so your skin looks more even.  It also makes your skin appear brighter right away, which is amazing.  I'm in love with this.
Overall, I really liked my Snow White box! It cost $29 and contained $188 worth of products! With most of the products, it'll take time to see results, but I'm hoping to see a brighter, more even complexion over the next couple of months.

New Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation and Primer Spotted!

Rimmel has reformulated their Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation and has given it a brand new look! I just spotted the display at CVS this morning. They have also released a Lasting Finish Primer that, to my knowledge, has only been available overseas until now.
The newly reformulated Lasting Finish comes in a glass bottle now. I purchased one so I can tell you it's an open-neck bottle, no pump, which I'm not a big fan of but I'll get over it if I really love it.
If you don't remember, this is what the old Lasting Finish looked like:
The new version claims to be enriched with "Comfort Serum" and the back of the bottle says,
"Full coverage foundation enriched with a comfort serum. Instant,  perfect coverage that lasts all day. Sweat, heat, humidity, and transfer proof for up to 25 hours."

It comes in 7 shades right now, which isn't a lot, but maybe there will be more in the future. I took some close-up photos of the shades:
Primer, 091 Light Ivory, 100 Ivory, 101 Classic Ivory

203 True Beige, 201 Classic Beige, 200 Soft Beige, 300 Sand
There's a $1 off coupon on the display that can be used toward either the primer or the foundation. The primer is $7.99 and the foundation is $8.99.
I'm actually excited to try this, because I like the flawless look that full coverage foundations provide. I was using Rimmel's Stay Matte in the summer because even though I have dry skin, it's really more normal in the warm weather. But now, I'm looking for something comparable that feels more hydrating on my skin, so I'm hoping this is it!
I'll make sure to post a review over the next few weeks.
What do you think? Do you want to try this?

New Rimmel Provacalips 16 Hour Lip Colour Spotted at CVS.

Rimmel Provacalips 16 Hour Lip Colour ($8.49 at CVS) is new for Spring 2015 and I spotted the display at my local CVS. Take a look!
Provacalips claims to be "kiss-proof, weightless, non-drying, transfer-proof Colour for endless comfort".
It comes in 10 shades and are double-ended wit the color on one side and a clear sealant on the other. I bought a few shades and did a quick swatch on the back of my hand. The lip color is very thin, like a lightweight gloss. The sealant surprised me by being thick and almost like a wax! I was expecting a clear runny gloss. It still has a glossy finish but it feels super soft, melty and emollient. But we'll see when I try it on my lips!
This is another exciting new release from Rimmel...see my other posts from today to see more!

L.A. Girl Beauty Brick Nudes Review and Swatches

Ever since the L.A. Girl Beauty Bricks ($9 each) debuted in October, I've been dying to get my hands on a few. I finally bit the bullet on Cyber Monday when everything was on sale, and I picked up the Nudes and the Ultra palettes.  Today I'm going to just review the Nudes palette and show you some swatches!

The Beauty Brick comes in a lightweight cardboard case and contains 12 eyeshadows, mirror, and double ended eyeshadow applicator (brush on one side, sponge tip on the other).  As soon as I opened this palette, I immediately thought of the Urban Decay Naked 3 because these are all beautiful rose-toned neutrals. I'll compare the two a little further down in this post, so keep reading for comparison swatches and to find out if this is a Naked 3 dupe!

The description on the L.A. Girl website says:
"Four gorgeous must-have eyeshadow palettes filled with a dozen majorly pigmented shades ranging from super wearable looks like Nudes to bolder looks likeNeons. L.A. Girl’s Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collectiongives you the best of all colors to allow you to createstunning looks!
The variety of colors and textures in the Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection include shimmer and matte shades making these captivating palettes very versatile to go from an everyday look to a night out.

Each unique look is featured in its own luxurious glossy book with a double-ended brush and mirror inside.

-Dimensional shimmers
-Smoothest mattes
-Major pigments"

These eyeshadows are super soft and pigmented and didn't have a lot of fallout compared to the Naked palettes.  I love the variety of shades and textures.  This palette has mostly shimmers and a few matte shades.  I found the shimmers to be a little more buttery and easier to pick up than the mattes, but they were all really pigmented.

Here are the swatches:

Above, I mentioned that this reminded me of the Naked 3 palette, but I had no idea how much until I put them together! The shades are in a slightly different order and they don't all match, but there were so many similarities, I had to do comparison swatches.
Top: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Bottom: L.A. Girl Beauty Brick
I tried to find the closest matches, but they don't all match perfectly.  Still, most of these are very close. Since the L.A. Girl palette doesn't have shade names, I've numbered them 1-12.
Nudes Palette #1 - Naked 3 Strange (both mattes)

Nudes Palette #2 - Urban Decay Limit (both mattes)

Nudes Palette #3 - Naked 3 Dust

Nudes Palette #4 - Naked 3 Nooner (both mattes)

Nudes Palette #5 - Naked 3 Dust

Nudes Palette #6 - Naked 3 Burnout

Nudes Palette #7 - Naked 3 Trick

Nudes Palette #8 - Naked 3 Liar
Nudes Palette #9 - Naked 3 Buzz

Nudes Palette #10 - Naked 3 Mugshot

Nudes Palette # 11 - Naked 3 Blackheart

Nudes Palette #12 - Naked 3 Factory

Overall, I am so excited over the L.A. Girl Beauty Brick in Nudes and I can't wait to try the other three! At only $9, it's a total steal and the pigmentation and buttery feel of these shadows rivals the higher-end palettes.
You can purchase the Beauty Bricks at the L.A. Girl Website  and I've also seen photos around Instagram of people spotting these at their local Harmon drugstore, so if you have one near you, definitely check it out!

Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet Spotted at CVS!

Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet ($6.79)  is a new lip product that I just spotted at CVS.  I posted photos to my Instagram page yesterday when I was at the store, but I wanted to talk a little bit about them and post some close-ups of the shades. I also purchased one, so a review will be coming soon!

At first glance, these looked just like the Show Off Lip Lacquers so I almost didn't look twice at this display, but I'm glad I did!  These remind me of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams.
The Claims:
"Up to 8 hours of weightless color"
"Earth-shattering intensity"
"Velvety smooth finish"

These have been out in the UK since this past summer, and according to reviews I've seen they come in 5 shades.  It looks like there are more than that in this display, but the colors were doubled up (although the person that stocked the display mixed some of them up...sigh- pet peeve of a former visual merchandiser).

I purchased the one in the middle of the top photo called "Atomic Rose".  First impression-wise, I'll say that even though it's a rosy shade, it definitely has a little peach in it as well, because when I applied it to my lips, it looked more orange than I thought it would. I'll also just say that these are a LOT like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and didn't dry out my lips despite having a dry, matte finish.  I'll do a full review soon, but here's a quick swatch- they're super pigmented, soft and very lightweight.  They disappear into your lips after a few minutes and you don't feel them.  I just have to wear it for a while and see how long it lasts.

Are you excited to try these, or not interested?  I'd love to hear what you think!

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Review

$

L'Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper  ($8.99, Walgreens) is a brand new product for Spring 2015 and already has a lot of people talking. There have been a lot of brow products released lately such as Maybelline's Brow Drama, Covergirl Pow-der Brow, and Hard Candy Brows Now!, so L'Oréal is the latest brand to jump on the bandwagon. I wasn't impressed with Maybelline's Brow Drama and since L'Oréal owns Maybelline I was hoping this would be different (hint: it is!).
Right away from reading the packaging I noticed that this is a fiberized formula, which immediately made me think it could be a Benefit Gimme Brow dupe (more on that below).

I've been very happy with the Divaderme Brow Extender, (and the new Covergirl Pow-der Brow is a great dupe for that), but sometimes my brows get a bit unruly for whatever reason and I need a gel to tame them and keep them in place. That's when I usually reach for Gimme Brow. Hard Candy's version has fibers and is a good dupe for Gimme Brow, but the lightest shade is too dark for me so I don't really use it, sadly.

Here's a few packaging shots to show the description and ingredients:

The tube that Brow Stylist Plumper comes in is about the size of a regular mascara, way bigger than other brow products I've seen, especially Gimme Brow.

The brush is smaller than a mascara brush but larger than the Gimme Brow brush, although it's the same tapered cone shape.  I don't mind the size because it makes the process of doing my brows go a little faster and it's not so big (like Maybelline's Brow Drama) that I can't control where the product is going or get it all over the skin above and below my brows.
Here's a photo of the Gimme Brow brush for reference from my past review. Looking at the two brushes, you can see how thin the L'Oreal formula is sitting on the brush, while the Gimme Brow looks thick and mousse-like.

Here it is next to Benefit's Gimme Brow- it's close to 3 times the size at .27oz. (Gimme Brow is only .1 oz. for $22).

I purchased the Light-to-Medium shade, but it also comes in Medium-to-Dark and Transparent. I have natural ashy dark blonde hair that I highlight so the overall look is a medium golden blonde. I don't like my brows to look too dark because it creates too much contrast with my light hair, so I usually go for the lighter shades when it comes to brow products.  Sometimes, even the lightest shades are too dark, but not in this case.

This Light-to-Medium shade is like a warm gold color and it struck me as really strange and unnatural when I first swatched it on my arm.  Since my natural color is very ashy, I was worried that this mustard-y color wouldn't match my brows.  Gimme Brow's Light/Medium shade is more neutral so it can work with warm or ashy tones.
I've found that the easiest way to use this is to comb it in an upward motion, but also to press it into your brow so that the product can adhere to your skin.

Here are my before and afters (sorry for my lack of makeup)...I was pleasantly surprised that the pigment in this covered my natural color and made my brows actually match the warmer tones in my hair!
Before

After
L'oreal Brow Stylist Plumper also has incredible staying power- I purposely didn't wash it off and it still looked perfect the next morning.  I would say that this is somewhat of a Gimme Brow dupe, but the formula is thinner.  I think that the Hard Candy Brows Now! (see my review here) is actually a closer Gimme Brow dupe, due to the thicker, more mousse-like formula, but the lightest shade is very dark compared to the Light/Medium Gimme Brow.  Also, I felt that the fibers in the L'Oreal formula were much smaller than either the Benefit or Hard Candy versions so it didn't "plump" quite as well.
Still, this was easy to use and inexpensive so I like it...but I still like Gimme Brow a little bit better.

Have you seen this in stores?  What do you think, will you try it?
