New! Sephora Oil Infusion Color & Care for Lips

$

I was browsing the Sephora website this morning over breakfast and came across a brand new lip oil from Sephora Collection called Oil Infusion Color & Care ($14). I'm crazy about my YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil (see my review here), but it's expensive at $32 and not all that pigmented so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a (more pigmented) dupe! Let's take a look...

It comes in 9 shades and the description says it's a "highly pigmented balm-in-oil formula enriched with Kendi Oil and Shea Butter for a new sensorial experience".
Needless to say, I ordered two of them, in the shades shown here (Pink Granita- top, and Raspberry Smoothie- bottom). Plus, using the code JULYFOUR I got a sample of Tarte's brand new Opening Act lash primer, PLUS this weekend Sephora is offering five free samples instead of three!

So head on over to Sephora.com to check out all 9 shades of the new Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care!

Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara Review (and more!)

Etude House recently sent me some goodies to play with, including their Open Your Eyes Makeup Box ($14.90)that contains their brand new Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara, as well as a Play 101 Eyeliner Pencil and two Look at My Eyes shadows. They also sent me some more of their Cherry Lip Gel Masks (which I've reviewed in the past) and an adorable kit that you can use to decorate your Any Cushion compact. So let's take a look!
etude house pink box
The Open Your Eyes Kit  comes with the brand new Lash Perm Curl Fix mascara, as well as a black eyeliner and two eyeshadows. Etude House also gave me an eye makeup remover in addition to the kit which definitely comes in handy when removing the Curl Fix Mascara.

Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara claims to keep your lashes curled for 24 hours! It's completely waterproof against water, sweat, tears, and sebum.
etude house lash perm curl fix mascara
Curl Fix comes in four shades: Black, Brown, Plum Burgundy, and Pink.

It has a Dual Jelly Brush that's supposed to pull your lashes top, bottom, front and back for extreme curl. The brush has very short bristles on one side and longer, comb-like bristles on the other. Just looking at the brush, you can see how glossy and black this formula is...it's really shiny!

I decided to take my usual before and after photos but then I wanted to do another one 24 hours later, to see if this really lives up to it's claim of 24 hour wear. So the other night, I didn't remove my eye makeup and put it to the test.
Before
This mascara is very, very wet. It may dry out a little the more I use it but right now, it drenches my lashes in product and leaves them looking shiny and dark but also a bit clumpy and stuck together. Even with the longer comb side, it was hard to separate them. It definitely curled them up a bit though!
After
So here's my lashes 24 hours later...sorry for the bad indoor lighting but it was really early in the morning! The Lash Perm Curl Fix was still in place with no smudging or flaking under my eyes...amazing. I've used waterproof mascaras that lasted all day but they never survive the night without smudging. You can even see my waterproof eyeliner is starting to break down behind my lashes but the mascara is still there, just not quite as rich and glossy looking. Also, I was impressed by the fact that my lashes didn't turn hard and crunchy with this mascara. They were a little bit stiff but not nearly as much as I thought they would be.
After 24 Hours
The Play 101 Pencil in black also comes in the Open Your Eyes kit and it's a twist-up waterproof eyeliner that's creamy and soft and gives you rich color in one stroke so you don't need to go over it multiple times. It's made of a "highly functional waterproof polymer) that helps it to last all day. This is the eyeliner I'm wearing in the photos above and while it did last all day, by the 24 hour mark it had started to break down. Still, that's pretty good!
Also included in the kit are two Look at My Eyes eyeshadows. One is a satiny finish and one is a glitter.

Here are swatches of the eyeliner and shadows. Look how dark the eyeliner is in one swipe! The shadows are also soft and pigmented.

I wanted to show you this little kit as well, it's a Decoden Kit which is a trend that originated in Japan. People are using these kits to decorate their phones, e-readers, and portable gaming systems. This cute little kit is for decorating your Etude House Any Cushion foundation compacts! It comes with a bag of little charms and a tube of glue for attaching them.

So what do you think of Etude House's newest offerings? Have you tried any of them yet?

*Disclosure- The items mentioned in this review were sent to me by Etude House for review but all opinions are my own and I was not paid to write this review.*

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush Review & Swatches

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush in Pure ($11.99- $12.99 at drugstores) is a brand new, revamped and repackaged version of their original Healthy Skin Blends. It comes in the same three shades: Clean (translucent), Pure (blush) and Sunkissed (bronzer) but they're totally different from what they used to be! Let's take a look...
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Highlighting Blush

I'm really loving the new packaging that Neutrogena's doing...it's simple, clean and eye-catching which is just what I've been hoping they would do. I've gotten kinda bored with them over the years because they just look dated, I guess. This is what the old packaging looked like:

The old version was very cool toned, but this one is warmer with some peachy copper and gold highlighters mixed in with pops of pink.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush Review & Swatches

Here's the description from the Ulta website:

Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Blends are designed to give sheer, illuminating color to help enhance skin's natural, healthy appearance. A sweep of the brush illuminates your face for a naturally healthy look. This dermatologist-developed blush is made up of a collection of shades that blend together for sheer color with subtle shimmer and natural-looking results, regardless of your skin tone. Enriched with Vitamin C and botanical conditioners, the powder technology incorporates advanced gel systems for easy application and soft feel.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush Pure

The powder feels really soft and velvety when you touch it with your fingers and picking it up with a brush was very easy...almost too easy. It creates a ton of fallout on the surface of the product when I use my Elf small stipple brush to swirl through all the shades. The color itself is really sheer, and it contains some shimmer to add highlight to your cheekbones. I have fair skin so this shows up fine on me, but those with darker skin tones may not be able to use this as a blush (although it may still work as a highlighter).
I found that using the small stipple brush works best because when I tried using a larger, fluffier brush it sheered the color out even more and it wasn't as visible. The smaller brush concentrates the color better.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush Swatches

On my cheeks, this gives a subtle pink flush and adds a nice highlight as well. I'm not wearing any highlighter in these photos at all...just this blush.

Here's a close-up:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush Swatches

Overall, I think this blush is great if you want a really natural, glowy look- there's nothing bright or bold about this one. Based on the description, this is supposed to be sheer, so I feel like it does exactly what it claims to. It's a great everyday option, and the shimmer is fine enough that it doesn't look disco-ball on my face. I purchased a few of the new Neutrogena blush singles for review that were released at the same time as these blends, so I'm thinking that they might be a bit more pigmented if that's more your cup of tea, so stay tuned for my review on those! :)

You can find the new Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends at drugstores or at Ulta.com.

My Favorite...Drugstore Eyeshadow!

$

I have gotten many, many requests over the past year or so from readers wanting to know what my favorite beauty products are. So I thought I'd do a series of posts highlighting all of my favorite things from drugstore to high-end!
I wanted to start with drugstore powder eyeshadows because there's a pretty big gap in quality between shadows from brands like Urban Decay, Lorac, and Tarte and those from the drugstore. It's unfortunate, but most powder eyeshadows I've tried from brands like Cover Girl, Revlon and Maybelline have fallen short when it comes to pigmentation, longevity, and that soft, buttery texture we all want in a shadow. But there is one exception, and that'sL'oreal's Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadows (around $7). While they're not perfect, here are all of the reasons I love them enough to own 13 different shades...

L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows have a formula that feels like a cross between a soft, buttery powder and a velvety cream eyeshadow.  Most of the shades are ultra pigmented in one swipe to give you the ultimate color payoff. They're waterproof, sweat-proof and crease-proof and are supposed to last 24 hours, (although I've never worn them that long before). On my dry eyelids, these last from morning until night, at least 12 hours and still look like they did when I put them on.
They feel similar to Urban Decay eyeshadows (which are owned by L'oreal) in the sense that they're silky, buttery and pigmented but they appear to be a loose eyeshadow that's been densely packed into their container with a little disc inside that keeps them from going all over the place. The shades are also very similar to Urban Decay. I've tried to dupe them many times thinking that one looks just like the other, but
The only downside to these is that the formula isn't always consistent...a few of the shades I own go on a little streaky with some fallout and aren't as pigmented, for example Iced Latte and Burst Into Bloom.

Overall, L'oreal Infallible are the closest thing to a high-end eyeshadow I've been able to find at the drugstore. They're soft, pigmented and super long-lasting, not to mention they come in a great range of shades from neutrals to brights. I think it would be amazing if they released some more matte shades into the collection...that would be amazing.
What are your favorite drugstore powder eyeshadows?

New: Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector

Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector ($39 at Sephora) is a brand new skin-perfecting foundation with an innovative bouncy, putty texture and it's part of their new Modern Goddess Fall 2015 collection. Let's take a look!

This powder/cream hybrid is a weightless, invisible formula that offers buildable, weightless coverage that looks like skin, not makeup. It offers a soft matte finish while it smooths the skin and hides imperfections, pores and uneven skin tone.
It comes in five shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, and Deep and claims to be waterproof and smudgeproof for all day wear.

According to the Sephora website, this is great for all skin types...oily skin types will love the oil-free matte formula while it won't settle into fine lines or look cakey on dry skin.

Honestly, I thought I was on a no-buy July from here on out, but now I find myself caving because I really want to try this, it sounds amazing.

What do you guys think? Will you be indulging? I'll feel better if I know I'm not the only one who wants this really badly.

You can find this at Sephora and Ulta

New Hourglass Palette Coming For Holiday 2015

I know it's waaay too early to talk about holiday-related stuff, but I just saw a new Hourglass palette on Space NK's Instagram page that's coming out for Holiday 2015...and it's too gorgeous not to share with you guys.
According to their description, this palette is blush, bronze, highlight and finishing. They didn't mention the name of it in the description box, but they hashtagged #ShadowandShimmer so I'm going to guess that the palette is called Shadow and Shimmer...but don't quote me on that!

I haven't tried any Hourglass blushes or bronzers yet because they're just too darn expensive at $50 a pop, but if this palette is around $58 like the Modernist eyeshadow palettes or the Ambient Lighting Palette, I might just indulge! But I'm guessing it'll be more in the $75 range. I don't have pricing information yet, but I'll add it to this post once I get it!

**Update! This will retail for $79 (thanks to reader Rachel for the info) and I have also confirmed that this contains one new shade, Iridescent Highlighter (the lightest shade) and that each shade is smaller in size than the Ambient palette.**

Will you be picking this up when it hits stores?

New: Stila Lash Stunner Primer and Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Stila just released two new lash products with their Fall 2015 collection, Lash Stunner Extreme Lash Primer ($26) and Huge Extreme Lash Mascara ($23).  Let's take a closer look!

Lash Stunner Extreme Lash Primer features two different kinds of fibers built into a creamy, easy to apply formula with no fiber fallout (yes!!). I actually saw this in Sephora today and I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting it, but I didn't want to go over my budget.  The formula is also brown instead of white like most lash primers are.

Huge Extreme Lash Mascara is supposed to be a lightweight volumizing mascara that builds extreme volume and coats lashes with an inky black color. It has a blend of soft waxes that allow you to build multiple coats without making your lashes clumpy or crunchy. I saw this in store at Sephora today also and the brush reminds me a lot of Too Faced's Better than Sex mascara.

Have you tried either of these yet, or are you thinking about getting one (or both)? I really want to take the plunge but I'm holding off for some reviews, as I do with most high-end products.

You can find these at Sephora and Ulta stores and online.

Disney's Dare To Dream Pocahontas Luminizer Review & Swatches

The Disney Dare to Dream collection arrived at Walgreens stores recently, and I was lucky enough to spot them at my local store. Similar to the ELF princess collections that have shown up previously, this collection features Pocahontas, Mulan, and Ariel. Each princess has their own beauty book filled with eyeshadows, lip products, blush, etc. but then they each have separate products as well.
Pocahontas has a bronzer and luminizers, while Ariel has eyeshadow quads and Mulan has lip glosses. I didn't realize at first, but these are actually made by Markwins, which owns Wet N Wild, Physicians Formula and Bonne Bell so I figured the quality should be pretty good! I purchased a bunch of different items but I wanted to start with one of my favorites...the Pocahontas Retractable Luminizers ($3 each)! Let's take a look...
Disney Dare To Dream Pocahontas Luminizer highlighter review
Disney Dare To Dream Pocahontas Retractable Luminizers

These cream highlighters come in three shades, and I picked up two of them to try, Great Spirit (champagne) and Free Spirit (gold). The third shade, Wild Spirit is bronze and it was out of stock at my local Walgreens so I'm sorry I don't have it to swatch for you guys.

These are very similar to other cream luminizers/highlighters such as Benefit's Watts Up!, Sonia Kashuk Luminosity Highlighting Stick, or the Nars Multiple except for one important point...these are $3! And this does not equate to a crappy product either, I'm very happy to say. These are creamy, and go on smooth with no chunky glitter at all. The shimmer is very refined, and just adds a beautiful glow to your skin, similar to Benefit's Watts Up highlighter (I compare them in the swatches below).

The one area where you can definitely tell these are a $3 item is the packaging. It feels very lightweight and is made of a cheapo plastic, but it's not going to fall apart or anything so I feel like as long as the product inside is good quality, that's all that matters! My one major gripe with the packaging here is that these don't twist all the way down into the tube so you have to be really careful replacing the cap or you'll take a chunk out of these.
Disney's Dare To Dream Pocahontas Luminizer Review
When swatching these, I was really impressed with the pigmentation and creaminess of these. They don't drag on the skin and the amount of shimmer is just right. Free Spirit is a warm golden shade, while Great Spirit is a cooler champagne.
disney dare to dream pocahontas swatches

These reminded me so much of Benefit's Watts Up! that I wanted to swatch them side-by-side. Watts Up! is very close in color to Great Spirit, almost enough to be a dupe, but it has a little more of a peachy/bronzy tone to it. But you can see how alike the formulas are, and how they swatch very similarly. Watts Up! is a little more pigmented as you swipe it, but other than that, they give the same effect!
benefit watts up dupe

Here, I'm wearing Great Spirit on my cheekbones...I love the way it catches the light! When you're pale skinned like I am, it's sometimes hard to find a good highlight that actually shows up (especially in photos!). A lot of the time, highlighters are darker than I am, haha.

Overall, these are a great buy at only $3! Head on over to your local Walgreens before they're gone! If you don't immediately see them in the front section where the beauty stuff is, take a look around the store. I found these all the way in the back on an endcap by the pharmacy section, so they might be hiding on you!
I wish I had some links for you to buy these online, but it appears that these are in-store only. Fingers crossed your Walgreens has these too!

Disney Dare To Dream Mulan Lip Gloss Review & Swatches

Disney Dare To Dream Mulan Lip Gloss ($3 at Drugstore.com and Walgreens stores) is part of a brand new Princess collection by Markwins (owners of Wet N Wild, Physicians Formula and Bonne Bell). I reviewed the Dare to Dream Pocahontas Luminizers already and they were such a great bargain find so I really wanted to share my thoughts on these as well, while you guys still have a chance to get your hands on them. Let's take a look...
disney dare to dream mulan lip gloss review

The Mulan collection has four lip gloss shades, and I purchased two of them to try...True Reflection (love that song!), a shimmery raspberry shade and Rare Beauty, a cool toned pink.

Rare Beauty (left) and True Reflection (right)
The other two shades are Imperial Kiss, a shimmery peachy pink and Last Blossom, a shimmery nude.
Last Blossom
Imperial Kiss

These glosses come in tall slim tubes that are clear so you can see the color inside. They do go on somewhat sheer so the intensity of the color in the tube isn't exactly what you'll get on your lips. The applicator is larger than your typical doe foot and it's also flat which I love...you can get a lot more gloss on your lips in one swipe.
The formula is on the thicker side but it's not sticky at all. It actually feels super soft and hydrating, like a lip balm and even the shimmery shade I bought feels smooth with no grit. Even hours later, my lips still felt moisturized. These contain shea butter, but I should mention that they also contain mineral oil for those of you who try to avoid it. They also have a delicious vanilla scent to them.
Disney Dare To Dream Mulan Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
Disney Dare to Dream Mulan- True Reflection

When swatching these, I noticed that True Reflection is a bit more pigmented and opaque than Rare Beauty. Both shades are super shiny and have about average staying power for a lip gloss. They actually did stain my lips a little bit so the color stuck around for a while after the glossiness wore away.
disney dare to dream mulan lip gloss swatches

I love both of these shades because they're so wearable...they add just enough color and look really natural. Even though True Reflection has shimmer in it, it doesn't look too glittery on your lips at all- it's very subtle.
                                  True Reflection                                                                 Rare Beauty

Overall, if you're looking for a really pretty, hydrating, non-sticky lip gloss, you'll definitely want to pick up one (or two or four) of these. At $3, they're a great little cheap thrill- I've been wearing these all week!
Have you seen the Dare to Dream collection at your local Walgreens yet? If not, these are available now on Drugstore.com.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Review & Swatches

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush ($7.99 at Ulta) is brand new for Summer 2015 and I was immediately drawn to these when I saw them at Walgreens, as I really like the modern square white packaging! I believe that these are the first single blush that Neutrogena has ever had (correct me if I'm wrong)...in the past they've only had blush/bronzer duos and blush blends. So let's take a look!
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Review & Swatches

Healthy Skin Blush comes in five shades and I picked up two to try. The prices on these vary depending on where you go...at CVS they were a whopping $11.49 each (what!?), and at Walgreens they were $8.99. I then found them at Ulta for $7.99, so I would definitely price compare these before you buy.

According to Neutrogena, these blushes are infused with Vitamin C and botanical conditioners. On the Ulta website, it says that these incorporate "advanced gel systems for easy application and soft feel".
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Review & Swatches

The first shade I picked up, Rosy is a light pinky peach that's perfect for my fair skin. It has a tiny bit of shimmer in it, but it's not noticeable at all once you blend this on your cheeks.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Rosy

The second shade I bought is called Vibrant, and it's a brighter pop of pink. I really like this color but I have to be careful not to overdo it or I end up with clown cheeks.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Vibrant
Vibrant

The formula is definitely very soft and velvety to the touch and they're very pigmented when applied with my fingers. I did notice that despite the pigmentation, these went on a little patchy and streaky.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Swatches
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Swatches Vibrant and Rosy

The formula is extremely powdery when you use a brush. I dipped my ELF small stipple brush into the pan and this is what happens...it goes everywhere! When I apply it to my cheeks with the brush, you can see powder flying in the air, surrounding me like a cloud. They do go on really pigmented though, with my small stipple brush and blend out easily.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Review & Swatches
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Rosy

On my skin, Rosy is a really natural flush that's barely there.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush Review & Swatches
Wearing Rosy

Vibrant is much darker and I had to blend this out like crazy to get it toned down to the color you see in this photo. At first application, it was really bright.
Wearing Vibrant

Overall, I'm just meh about these. I love the new packaging and I think that Neutrogena is headed in the right direction there. The colors that are available are also really pretty and they're nicely pigmented and soft, but the drier, more powdery formula makes a mess with lots of fallout and the colors can go on a little streaky until you blend them well.  You can find them online at Ulta.com.

What do you think? Have you tried these new blushes yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)

New: Cetaphil Cleansing Wipes at Bed Bath and Beyond

$

I just spotted new Cetaphil Cleansing Wipes at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $5.99 a pack (plus they included a bonus travel pack of 10 wipes). This is good news for Cetaphil fans, as their cleanser has a cult-following and countless makeup artists and celebrities swear by it!  It's known for being a very gentle, unscented cleanser that's also very effective at cleansing your skin.

I use face wipes pretty often as a sort of pre-cleanse to take my makeup off before washing my face and my biggest complaint with some of them is that they can sting a little, especially the fragranced ones. I've been using Simple's cleansing wipes and I like them a lot, but I'm definitely going to try these since I love their liquid cleanser.
What about you...are you a fan of Cetaphil products? Tried these yet?

Lorac Pro Matte Palette Review & Swatches

The Lorac Pro Matte Palette ($28) is brand new for Fall 2015 and has some gorgeous matte neutrals that will be perfect for the cooler fall weather (but I don't want to think about that just yet!). I picked mine up at Kohls, and used my $5 Yes2You reward on it (which brought it down to $23) but you can also find it at Ulta. Let's take a closer look...
lorac pro matte palette review swatches

The Pro Matte Palette comes in a soft-touch case with a magnetized closure, just like the larger Pro palettes. It's also black so between that and the soft rubbery texture, this attracts makeup dust and fingerprints like a mother!
lorac pro matte palette
It contains 8 shades, as opposed to 16 shades in the regular Pro Palette. The pans inside the matte palette are slightly larger than the ones in the Pro Palettes so the outer case is just over half the length of a regular Pro palette. It's actually a great size for travel, because it's very slim and not bulky at all.
lorac fall 2015 pro matte

The shades inside range from white to black with tan, brown, mauve, and burgundy in the middle.

Top Row:

Bare is a light beige or eggshell shade.
Latte is a light tan with a hint of gray in it.
Corduroy is a medium warm brown.
Chocolate is a dark reddish warm brown.

Bottom Row:

Linen is a bright white
Pink Mauve is a dusty pink with a hint of gray
Burgundy is a warm red brown
Jet Black is a dark neutral black.

lorac pro matte palette swatches

The pigmentation on these, as usual, is fantastic and is the same formula as the original Pro Palettes. These are soft and buttery and they pick up very easily without a lot of fallout. The two brown shades Corduroy and Chocolate are a little on the powdery side and went on a little streaky when I first swatched them, but they seemed to get much better as I went down a layer into the pan. Actually, all of the shades got even better as I got past the top layer- they're just so super soft...I love it!
lorac pro matte palette swatches

Overall, this is a must-buy if you're into matte shadows like I am. I can see myself using this a lot this fall...heck, I'm already using it! But these earthy colors are just making me think of sweater weather...and pumpkin picking and raking leaves and Thanksgiving and...okay I'm getting ahead of myself here, it's only the beginning of July!
So tell me, will you be picking up the Lorac Pro Matte palette (or have you already)? I'd love to hear what you think!

You can purchase the Pro Matte palette at Kohls and Ulta.

Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care Review & Swatches

Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care ($14 at Sephora.com) is a brand new lip oil that just recently came out, and as soon as I saw it I wondered if it could be a dupe for my beloved YSL Tint-in-Oil ($32).  I purchased two out of the nine available shades to try and have been using them for about a week so I'm ready to share my thoughts with you!
Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care Review & Swatches
Sephora Oil Infusion Color & Care in Raspberry Smoothie and Pink Granita

The packaging is unlike anything I've owned before...they actually remind me of test tubes. They're completely see-through and rounded at the bottom so if you want to stand these guys up, you have to put them upside down on their caps.

Compared to YSL's Tint-in-Oil, the packaging definitely looks and feels cheaper, but then again...it's kind of hard to get more luxurious than YSL, so I would say most brands aren't going to be able to compete as far as packaging goes.

They come with a standard doe-foot applicator while the YSL version has a wider, diamond-shaped applicator (see my review here). I actually prefer the YSL applicator because it allows you to apply more product at once without having to dip back into the tube, but again, that's more of a luxury, not a necessity...this one does just fine, especially since I can buy two of these for the price of one YSL Tint-in-Oil.

ysl tint in oil dupe
Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care in 07 Raspberry Smoothie

sephora oil infusion pink granita
Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care in 01 Pink Granita

The description on Sephora.com says that these are "highly pigmented" and while I wouldn't go that far, they're definitely more pigmented than the YSL Tint-in-Oils. Of the two colors I bought, Pink Granita swatched more opaque than Raspberry Smoothie, which came out a little more sheer, so there seems to be some variation in pigmentation between shades.

sephora oil infusion lip oil swatches

Here they are next to YSL's I Rose You...they're definitely more pigmented, but I still wouldn't call them full coverage.
sephora lip oil infusion swatches

Unlike the fruity scent of the YSL lip oils, these have a vanilla cake batter-type scent that isn't too strong or overpowering, but is just enough to make them sweet.

The texture of these is also different from the YSL version...they're thinner and feel like you're putting a straight oil on your lips, while the YSL oils are thicker, more like a runny lip gloss. So due to the fact that they're so thin, they don't sit on top of your lips for long...they melt in during the first half an hour of wear and feel soft and hydrating with no sticky feeling at all. They contain Castor Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Kendi Oil, and Shea Butter, so you can imagine how amazing your lips feel after wearing these!

Wearing Sephora Oil Infusion in Raspberry Smoothie

On the downside, these didn't last that long on my lips. The shine wore off rather quickly as the oils sank in and then the color lasted only about 2 hours. It's possible that the darker shades will leave a bit of a stain but these two lighter shades really didn't.

Overall, I really love these, despite the shorter wear time. They're so super hydrating and make my chronically dry lips look smooth and less lined. Also, this might be a negative for some of you, but I also like how they melt into my lips rather than sitting on top. I mean, I love a good lip gloss but sometimes you just don't want to feel goop on top of your lips especially if you're going to be outside where it's windy and you don't want your hair getting stuck in it (that happens to me all too often). I'm not sure I'd call these an exact YSL dupe because there are many differences, but I like these just as much and I'm itching to buy some more shades now that I've tried them!

A few of you have told me that you purchased these last week when I first mentioned them, so I'd love to hear what you think of them!

Foreo Luna Review

The Foreo Luna ($199 at Sephora) is a silicone facial cleansing brush that deep cleans your skin effectively yet gently, and even claims to have some anti-aging benefits. I was recently given the opportunity to try one and I'm happy to say it's become a huge part of my skincare routine. Let's take a look!
foreo luna review

The Foreo Luna comes in a few different versions based on your skin type. I selected the one for Sensitive/Normal skin which is pink, but there's also one for combination skin (blue), one for ultra-sensitive skin (white) and even one for men (black). Each version features a different combination of silicone touch-points to clean your face in the most effective way possible without irritation.

I should start by saying that I was a regular Clarisonic user...I have the Clarisonic Smart Profile which has three different brush heads for cleansing your face, body, and exfoliating your feet. Since I got the Foreo Luna about three weeks ago, I haven't used the Clarisonic on my face, so I have a good idea of how this cleanses vs. the Clarisonic.
The Luna comes with a soft little drawstring pouch to store it in.  I don't really use it on an everyday basis because I normally just stand my Luna on a shelf in the shower. But since I received the Luna a few days before I went on vacation, and I was really happy to have the pouch to store it in inside my suitcase.
foreo luna review

There are a few major points of difference between the Luna and other facial cleansing brushes. First, there are no brush heads to replace which saves a lot of money over time. I was replacing my Clarisonic brush heads every few months at $32 a pop. Also, the Luna doesn't have nylon bristles that can harbor bacteria that can cause breakouts, so it's a much more sanitary option...the silicone rinses clean after each use.
Another difference is that rather than scrubbing in a circular motion like cleansing brushes, the Luna vibrates with T-Sonic (transdermal sonic) pulsations that loosen dirt, grime and makeup from your pores without scrubbing or irritating the skin. The first time I used the Luna, I felt like it wasn't really cleaning because I was used to a rotating brush...it just felt like it was vibrating but not much else. But after using the Luna, my face felt super clean and looked clear and bright with none of the redness that followed using other cleansing brushes. I couldn't believe how well it worked because it was so gentle.
It's also a lot smaller than a cleansing brush...it fits in the palm of my hand which makes it great for travel.
The only downside I found is that it's sometimes a little tricky to get the silicone touch points into certain areas because it doesn't bend like a brush does. I find that I have to keep turning the Luna all different ways to clean the area around my nose, but my Clarisonic brush bends right around the sides of my nose.

foreo luna review

The back of the Luna has ridges that are to be used in anti-aging mode. When you're finished cleansing, you can push the start button again and use this ridged side on your face as it emits lower-frequency pulsations to help your skin rebuild collagen over time and increase firmness. It actually feels nice, like a massage, but it's way too soon for me to tell if this feature actually works.

Overall, I have been using my Luna exclusively since I got it and have only been using my Clarisonic for my body (using the body brush). I find that the Luna does just as good a job at cleansing my skin yet it doesn't leave it looking pink and over-scrubbed afterwards. Plus I love the fact that I'll never need to purchase a brush head for it!

Hair2Wear Christie Brinkley 16" Hair Extension Review

$

Christie Brinkley has launched a new line of hair extensions, wigs and hair accessories and I was really excited when I was given the opportunity to try the Hair2Wear 16" hair extension ($49). I cut my hair into a bob last year and have been slowly growing it out. I'm one of those people who loves having both short and long hair...I can never decide. I'm always in this never-ending cycle of cutting it short, then growing it out, then cutting it short again when I start to get bored. Right now, my hair is a medium-length lob which I really like, because it's long enough to put up or to curl, but still short and manageable...kind of the best of both worlds.
Still, I sometimes want a little extra length and when I'm missing my long hair, a clip-in extension like this one from Hair2Wear is a quick and easy solution. Let's take a look...

The Christie Brinkley 16" extension comes packaged in a small box that you can use to store the extension in when you're not using it.

Unlike those clip-in extensions that come in several pieces, this is just one piece...so much easier and it only takes about a minute to put on. Here's a guide on how to do it...just section off the top layer of your hair and clip it up. Then attach the extension along the horizontal part you made- it just clips right into place. Then let the rest of your hair down and you're done!

When you open the box, you'll see the extension packaged inside some netting and tied with a ribbon. You also get a style guide that shows you more detailed instructions on how to attach the extension to your hair, plus how to wash it and how to heat style it!
Since this is a synthetic fiber and not real hair, you have to be careful when heat styling. Hair2Wear recommends 300 degrees, but don't go past 350 or you can ruin it. This fiber only sets once it's cool, so if you're curling your extension, you have to keep the hair curled up after releasing it from the curling iron until it cools, either by cupping it in your hand, or putting a clip on it to hold it in place while you move on to the other sections.

This extension comes curled, so that's the way I decided to wear it for this review. I chose the shade Medium Brown (there are 11 shades and if you can't decide, you can order a color ring to get the closest color match). Also, the Christie Brinkley collection is now available at Sally Beauty, so if your local store has them, it may be even easier to go see them in person! (For a list of stores near you, click here).
It's very lightweight and comfortable to wear and it feels so soft and silky. It also looks natural and blends with my own hair really well...it doesn't look too shiny like doll hair either. They did a good job of making it look very realistic.

Before I started, I curled my own hair since the extension came with curls. Here's what my hair looks like without the extension:

Before

And here's what it looks like after! It gave me several inches in length and makes my fine hair look thicker.

Here it is from the back:

I also wanted to do a far away shot so you can get a more accurate picture of the length (for reference, I'm 5'6" tall). I normally prefer loose waves, so after this review I straightened out some of the curl using my flat iron. I just went over it quickly to loosen the curls a bit, but at some point I'll probably try it straight too!

On the downside, I'm not sure that I would use this on shorter hair because it might be difficult to blend, especially in the back since it's all one length. With short hair, you may be able to see the line where your hair ends and the extension starts. When you have medium length hair like I do, the extension only comes down another couple of inches so it creates an appearance of layers. But with shorter hair, there would be too much of the extension showing to look like a believable layer. That's the main problem I ran into when using a one-piece extension with shorter hair in the past.

But overall, I think that if you have medium-length hair or longer, the Hair2Wear Christie Brinkley collection 16" extension is a fun and easy way to get a some additional length and add volume to fine or thin hair without breaking the bank or damaging your hair with salon extensions. It's so easy to put in and takes less than a minute, so I find myself wearing it all the time!

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme Swatches and Review First Impression

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme ($6.99 at Walgreens) is a brand new, limited edition line of matte liquid lipsticks that just arrived at Walgreens stores. I posted about these on Instagram the other day, and based on the reaction, it's safe to say that everyone is going crazy looking for these. I did check CVS also but I haven't seen them there yet. I had a really hard time finding these because out of the 6 Walgreens in my area, only one of them carries Milani. It's weird because the other locations used to carry Milani but seem to have recently stopped. Anyway, I wanted to give you my first impressions and swatches of the three shades I purchased, so let's take a look!

First, some close-ups of all the shades:

First of all, I'm so glad that more drugstore brands are releasing matte liquid lipsticks because there's such a demand for them! It's nice to be able to have more affordable (and more accessible) options!

These actually don't have that thick, velvety texture that a lot of matte lip cremes do...instead they're very liquidy (almost watery-feeling) and practically sink right into your lips upon application.  They feel really soft at first, then they take on a very sticky texture until they dry a few minutes later. Then you're left with a soft, suede-like finish that doesn't feel dry. They're also super long-wearing! They lasted the majority of the day on me and felt comfortable the whole time.

But unfortunately, there are downsides to these. For one, if you have lips with a lot of lines in them like I do, they'll look very dry even if they don't feel dry. Because these are so liquidy, they don't sit on top of your lips...they sink right into your lips and into every line. At least that was my experience. I was able to remedy that somewhat by applying my matte finish Nuxe lip balm either under or over them, but they still looked a little dry.
Also, due to the watery nature of these, they're a bit messy to apply. The wand picks up way more product than you need to cover your lips and the first time I used these, the product spread outside my lip lines (and was really difficult to get off my skin). So you have to be extremely careful when applying them. I found that if I dot it in the center of my lips and then blend it out with my finger, it works a little better and creates less mess. You can also use a lip liner or a clear lip liner to keep it inside your lip line.

Lust is probably my favorite of the three shades I purchased. It's a beautiful mauve-pink.
Beloved is that tawny brown-pink 90's shade that's been making a comeback this year.
Adore is a light peachy nude that washes me out quite a bit so I don't think I can pull it off very well.

Here I am wearing Lust (with Nuxe lip balm on top):
Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme Swatches and Review

Overall, I think this is one of those products you'll either love or hate depending on your preferences. I personally don't care for matte lipsticks because I have really dry lips with a lot of lines, so I tend to gravitate toward more moisturizing formulas with some shine to them. Still, I can appreciate this long-wearing, comfortable formula and if you're a matte lipstick fan, I think you'll really love these! I know that matte lips are still having a moment, and I wish I could jump on the bandwagon but I guess I'll just have to wait for the day when glossy lips are back in style! xo

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer Review & Swatches

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer ($36 at Sephora) is a product that I stumbled upon by accident but I've been absolutely loving it and had to share my thoughts on it with you guys! Before I went on vacation, I was in Sephora picking up some travel sizes of my favorite hair products, mascara, etc. and I saw this in the bins by the register (those things are a major weakness of mine). It intrigued me because it said that it was a BB Primer not a BB Cream...usually BB Creams aren't enough coverage for me but I figured that since this is a primer, I can layer my foundation over it if it doesn't provide enough coverage. Turns out, I didn't even need to because this stuff has some serious coverage all it's own! Let's take a look...
Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer Review & Swatches
Tarte BB Tinted Primer in Light
I purchased the travel size at first, which is $14 and only comes in two shades, Light & Medium. The full size comes in Fair, Light, Medium, Medium-Tan & Tan-Deep. If you're on the fence about trying this (and your skin tone falls into the Light or Medium category) the travel size lasts several weeks and is a good way to try it before investing $36 on the full size.

The BB Tinted Treatment Primer offers broad spectrum SPF 30 and claims to be a 12-hour primer, oil-free moisturizer, pore minimizer, and skin brightener. It's meant to be used either on it's own, or layered under foundation like a normal primer. I honestly didn't think it would give much coverage at all but it easily gave me as much as a medium-coverage foundation! Since my vacation, I've been wearing only this and a little bit of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer under my eyes when I need it, and together they give me a totally flawless matte finish!

This primer has a soft, velvety mousse-like texture, similar to a mousse foundation, and it dries down to a powdery matte finish. I have dry skin but I can actually use this without it clinging to dry patches or accentuating fine lines...but then again, it is summertime right now. It's possible that my skin won't get along with this formula in the winter, so I'll have to report back on it once the weather gets colder.
I like to just apply it with my fingers, which I always do with primers and it works great! It blends so easily and feels like butter going on. It also feels lightweight on the skin once it sets and gives a beautiful soft-focus finish.

I got a sample card with all five shades, so I thought I'd swatch them for you so that you can see what they look like.

Overall, I was really surprised by this one...in a good way! Lately I've been avoiding anything that says "BB" because I feel like they're usually just over-hyped tinted moisturizers. But this is completely different than anything I've used before in that it's both a primer and a medium coverage foundation in one. I definitely recommend you try it out if you get the chance!
