New Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Smashed

$

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is my holy grail lip product.  I've been wearing it to bed every night since I bought it last January (see my review here).  Then over the summer, they made it even better by releasing a Champagne pink, rose-gold tinted version (see my review here) which I wear it all the time when I want just a hint of color. As a stay-at-home Mom, I don't really wear lip products with much color to them on a daily basis so the Champagne is my go-to when I'm just out running errands or around the house. Still, I always thought it would be nice if they'd make a darker tinted version for those days when I do want a little more color.

Well, I was just browsing the Sephora website last night and freaked out when I saw Smashed, the newest Agave Lip Mask shade!

"The leave-on Bite Beauty Smashed Agave Lip Mask imparts a universal red-wine tint while healing and softening lips with its blend of lanolin, vanilla extract, natural olive fruit, and jojoba oil. Its infusion of the powerful antioxidant resveratrol improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, banishes dryness, and lets you achieve irresistible lips".

I love that all the lip masks are petroleum free and made with all food grade ingredients.  It's pricey, but definitely a splurge that's worth it for me.  You only need a tiny bit and it lasts forever.  The original clear version I bought last January is only a little over half gone!

I ordered one last night as soon as I saw it so I'll be posting a review soon!

Beauty Box 5 December 2014 Review and Unboxing

I got my Beauty Box 5 in the mail this week and I was excited as always, to see what was inside.  For those of you who don't know about Beauty Box 5, it's a monthly beauty subscription box that gives you 5 curated beauty samples for $12 a month (or $8.25 a month if you sign up for a 1 year subscription!).

The first product in the box is Lucky #6 by Lucky Brand.  I love their jeans, but I'm not head-over-heels for this fragrance, which is described as lotus, tiger lily, cashmere woods and jasmine.  It kind of smells old-lady to me- floral and a bit powdery. I feel like fragrance is very hit or miss in a subscription box because of the personal nature of it.  I don't find this scent offensive in any way, it's just not for me.

Body Drench Lip Drench (full size $4.99) is a nice lip balm that's pomegranate scented.  It contains Vitamin E and other moisturizing ingredients and feels moisturizing on the lips.  It's not super exciting but you can never have too many lip balms, especially in the winter!

This glitter nail polish by Nanacoco (full size $3.95) is really festive and perfect for the holidays! I love the combination of bright blue and pink...it's so pretty!  I've gotten other Nanacoco nail polishes in the past and they have a really strong smell so I usually have to open a window when I use these. But they're long lasting and go on smooth, so I'm happy to get this!
Juice Beauty is a brand that is pretty expensive so I've never owned one of their full-size products, but I've tried some samples of their Green Apple Peel in the past and really liked it.  This moisturizer contains plant and fruit acids to reduce wrinkles and combat sun damage, plus it's organic!
These Absolute! New York Nail Polish Remover pads (full size, $2.99) are amazing and I'm actually really psyched to get these because I'm so lazy when it comes to removing polish.  I usually end up picking it off over time but these are so easy and they smell good (peach...mmm).
Overall, I like this month's box and will use everything except the perfume, which I'll probably gift to a friend or family member. If you're interested in signing up for Beauty Box 5, click here.

Ipsy Glam Bag December 2014 Review

As always, myIpsy Glam bag was amazing this month.  I'm constantly impressed by the samples they give me for only $10 a month...they're almost never boring and they tend to include newer products I've been wanting to try which is just so great.

This month's bag included:

Bumble and Bumble Repair Blow Dry- This is a really new product that I've been wanting to try and I'm so glad I didn't buy it yet because now I can try it for free!  It's supposed to be a serum-in-cream for dry and damaged hair that seals split ends...perfect for my hair type!

NYX Butter Lip Balm- I love NYX and this is a full-sized product which is great.  This butter lip balm is so soft and gives a sheer wash of color that really pops.  The shade they sent me, Parfait is a fuchsia with blue undertones an it's actually pretty pigmented yet it still allows my lips to show through a little bit so it's not an intimidating color.  I'm in love with how easy it is to just swipe on and go!

Nourish Organic Eye Cream- This eye cream is perfect for my dry skin.  It has no scent and contains avocado oil, argan oil and shea butter.  I can't wait to use it tonight!

Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish- This is a full size product and it's a loose eyeshadow in the base with a sponge-tipped applicator in the handle.  This shade, Orchid, is a beautiful shimmery pinky taupe that goes on smooth and pigmented.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara- This is an old favorite of mine and I'm super happy to get a travel size!  You can never have too many mascaras.

Here are swatches of the NYX Butter Lip Balm and Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish...I was really surprised at how much color is in this lip balm...I really want to try more shades now!

Coupon Codes:

Free Gift and 20% off any purchase at Cailyn Cosmetics using code IPSYCAILYN.

30% off any purchase at Nourish Organic using code LOVEIPSY30.

25% off NYX Glam Collection at NYX Cosmetics using code NYXGLITZ.

20% off at Tarte using code IPSYDEC

Overall, I'm super happy with this month's Glam Bag.  There were two full sized products and it had a total value of $31.99 not including the eye cream because I don't know how much it costs yet (it's going to be released in January). I always feel like they send me products that are tailored to my skin type and makeup preferences.  So many other subscription boxes have you take the quiz but then ignore your answers.  I've never found that to be the case with Ipsy.  If you're thinking about trying a  beauty subscription, I highly recommend Ipsy!  Click here to sign up (you can cancel any time- there's no long term commitment).

Plus the shades are so soft and pigmented and they go on so smoothly. Let's take a look!

Introducing our third offering, and we explore the most amazing collection of bronzers, merged blushers, baked bronzer and 2 merged baked highlighters.

I absolutely love all of the marbled shades- they look so beautiful when swirled together. Plus there's a matte bronzer and a shimmer bronzer as well.
I swatched the shades from left to right, top to bottom:
Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right

Top left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right
Here are all of the shades together, swatched in the same order as above:

I just can't get over how much I love this palette!  I've been using it every day since I got it and I've been trying different combinations of looks.  The shades are all so pretty and wearable, plus when I pick them up with a brush they go on so silky and smooth, not chalky or streaky at all.  They're super easy to work with overall and I'm really impressed that this palette was under $10!

If you're looking for an all-in-one highlighter, blush and bronzer palette, definitely check this one out! Makeup Revolution is currently only available through their website and they're based in the UK, so if you're in the US, you have to change the currency on their website to switch the prices from pounds to dollars.

L'oreal Pro-Matte Foundation, Powder and Pro-Last Gloss Spotted at CVS

I was so surprised to walk into CVS today and find a large display of the new L'oreal Pro-Matte collection, as well as Pro-Last Lip Color. I knew they were coming out soon but I guess I assumed they'd be in Bed Bath and Beyond first.  I'll review these in the next few weeks but for now, here's some photos!
The Pro-Matte foundation and powder are $13.79 each...kind of expensive for drugstore products, but I find that L'oreal in general is more expensive then some of the other brands. They each come in 8 shades and promise 24 hour wear with a demi-matte finish. The foundation says it's medium coverage with an air-light texture.

Pro-Last Color comes in 17 shades (some are doubled up on the display) and promises 24 hour color without the dry-out. These sound similar to the Rimmel Provacalips that also just came out for Spring 2015. They're also $13.79 each which is really expensive! I wanted to get more shades but could only pick up 2. Between those and the foundation my total was over $44 with tax! I hope these are worth it.

Now if you're anything like me, you probably want to see even more pictures and since I'm writing this post from the car (my little guy fell asleep and I don't have the heart to wake him) I figured I'd share a few close-ups of the shades I got. Just don't mind the photos with my jeans as the backdrop, haha.

I chose the second to lightest shade, Shell Beige because it's pink-toned, yay! By the pictures on the display it looked like a couple of the shades might be pink toned.

The Pro-Last Lip colors I got were a light pink called Permanent Blush, and a rosy shade called Timeless Rose.

Similar to other long-wear lip products, this has a flocked applicator on one side and a clear lip balm stick on the other.
Well, someone is awake and happy so I'm off! Look for a review on both of these products very soon!

Rimmel Provacalips 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip Colour Review and Swatches

$

Rimmel Provacalips 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip Colour ($8.49 CVS) is a brand new Spring 2015 launch and there's a lot of buzz about these because they're supposed to be non-drying.  I usually stay away from wearing long-wear lip color because I have dry lips to begin with and they tend to make it much worse. But I've been waiting for someone to make a formula that isn't drying so I was compelled to give these a try.
I purchased two shades, 120 Pucker Up (a pinky nude) and 200 I'll Call You (a rosy pink).

Provacalips are your typical double-ended long-wear lip product...color on one end, clear balm on the other.  This one actually has a balm with an applicator rather than a balm stick, which is what I see more often than not.

The formula is very thin and lightweight, and it feels really comfortable as you're putting it on.  It feels like you're applying a lip gloss at first- it has a lot of slip and feels moisturizing.  According to the instructions, you have to let it set for a couple of minutes, keeping your lips apart (if you touch your lips together before it's dry, it feels very sticky). Once dry, my lips felt smooth and I was able to apply the balm.  It feels like a thick, waxy lip balm and added a coat of glossy shine and even more hydration.

The color is very pigmented and I only needed one coat to fully saturate my lips with color.  I was really impressed by how easily it went on!  The lighter shade, Pucker Up had a little shimmer in it and is a my-lips-but-better shade. I'll call you actually ended up being darker than it looked based on the tube, but it's not totally unwearable for me.
Pucker Up, I'll Call You

I'll Call You

Pucker Up
Overall, the staying power on these was absolutely incredible!  It lasted until the following day- it wouldn't even come off at night with my regular cleanser.  I realized then that I would need an oil-based makeup remover (or baby oil) to get it off my lips.  About 5-6 hours after the first application, my lips did start to feel a little bit dry, but not much more than usual.  Also, that sticky feeling came back when I pressed my lips together and I could definitely feel the product on my lips as I went about my day. But it wasn't anything I couldn't live with and if I reapplied the balm the stickiness and dryness went away.  I only had to do that once in a 16 hour period, so that was pretty good!  With other more drying formulas, I was having to reapply the balm every hour to keep my lips from drying out so this formula is really amazing.
I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a long-wearing lip product.  If you don't have dry lips I think it'll probably feel comfortable on you all day, but even if you do, this may be the first long-wear you'll actually be able to use!
What do you think...have you tried these yet?  Or if not, do you want to?

Glossybox December 2014 Review and Unboxing

Wow, I am loving this month's GLOSSYBOX! This is always the last box to come each month, but it's always such an amazing value that I get really excited about it. It's my most expensive subscription at $25 a month, but it contains all high end products, many of them full size so it more than pays for itself. Plus it's a great way to try more expensive products to see of I like them without breaking the bank.
This month's box was so pretty and festive in a red and green theme. They always wrap it up like a present each month with a ribbon and a card but this one was extra special.
This box contained almost all full sizes, which was incredible! So here's what I got...
Rituals Miracle Hand Scrub ($17)- This hand scrub is full size and has nourishing oils and gentle exfoliators to help smooth rough dry hands. Lord knows my hands need all the help they can get! I'm loving this product already.

Nuxe Creme Fraiche de Beaute ($32)- This is another full sized product and it's a soothing rescue mask for dry or stressed out skin. I've been using it before bed the last few nights and it feels amazing on my skin. You leave it on for 10 minutes and then if you have normal to oily skin you can remove it with toner and go ahead with the rest of your routine, or if you have really dry skin like me, after the 10 minutes you just massage the rest in and leave it on overnight. My skin soaked this up so fast there was nothing left to massage in after the 10 minutes!

Toni and Guy Prep Leave-in Conditioner ($9.19)-  This British brand has been at Target for a while now and I keep meaning to try them but I've been resisting because I have so many hair products at the moment. I can't wait to try this...it sounds perfect for my bleached and heat styled hair.
Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Burlesque ($19.99)- This bright red lipstick is the perfect holiday shade and again, is full size! I'm not really into red lipstick but it's definitely appropriate for this time of year.
Ciate Mini Paint Pot in Yule Rules ($8)- I always pick up the Ciate Mini Paint pots while I'm waiting on line at Sephora. They always have the best colors and they're cheaper than buying the full sizes. This sparkly blue is the perfect Winter topcoat!
Overall, I thought that this box was an amazing value...it came with over $86 worth of products for $25 and all full sizes except for the Ciate nail polish.  If you're interested in trying GLOSSYBOX, you can sign up for a month-to-month subscription that you can cancel anytime right online if you don't like it.  Or if you purchase a 3-month ($60), 6-month($115) or a 12-month ($220) subscription you'll save a bit and it'll be cheaper than buying them each month.

What do you think of this month's Glossybox?  Are you already a subscriber or are you thinking about joining?

New! Benefit Puff Off! Instant Eye Gel

Benefit Cosmetics has just released a new undereye product for Spring 2015 called Puff Off! ($29 at Ulta) that's supposed to erase puffiness and fine lines.  Take a look!

Description:
Puffies & creases look "satiny smooth" with Benefit's innovative undereye gel. The custom "ironing" tip instantly helps smooth the look of puffies & fine lines. Iron away for a smoother day!

Directions:
Squeeze once and dot under each eye...then go back and glide on with "ironing" tip. Beauty Tip: Puff Off! works on bare skin or over makeup. When applying on top of makeup, gently pat with fingertips to blend.

I'm really excited to try this...I don't have puffy eyes that often, but I'm curious to see how it works on fine lines. Plus the iron applicator tip is too cute! Don't you wish you could just iron away the creases under your eyes like you do with clothes? That would be amazing but something tells me this isn't going to go that far.  Still, it's fun to try!

You can purchase Puff Off! at Ulta.com or at Benefit Cosmetics below:

New! Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

$

There's a new Smashbox Photo Finish Primer at Ulta for Spring 2015 and rather than the usual silicone formula, this one is a silicone-free primer water ($32)! Take a look...

Description:
Think priming benefits, hydration and sheer radiance - all in just 1 spritz! Primer water is free of silicone, alcohol and oil, but it's packed with revitalizing electrolytes to wake up skin and restore moisture - like a supercharged energy drink for your skin. Passed through positive energy fields during the production process, Smashbox's enriched water instantly absorbs into skin for lasting hydration (and when skin is hydrated, makeup looks better).

It's everything you love about the original primer in their lightest, purest, most refreshing form imaginable. From the silky-smooth texture of the original, to the super-fine mist of this new water, now there's a primer for everyone.

Just The Facts:
  • Silicone-free. Alcohol-free. Oil-free.
  • Creates the sheerest canvas for makeup application.
  • Wakes up skin, leaving it vibrant and radiant for hours
  • Restores moisture and hydrates skin for hours - shine free!
  • Refreshes throughout the day.
  • Perfect for all skin types.
Directions:
Mist on this multitasking water in 3 ways:
  • Prime to create our sheerest canvas for makeup application.
  • Set your makeup to lock on your look.
  • Refresh throughout the day to wake up skin
Hold bottle 8"-10" away from face and mist evenly.
Smashbox Tip: Keep it cool! For an extra refreshing, ultra-cooling mist, store in the fridge.

I'm intrigued by this and wonder how well it works...on the one hand, it sounds great that it's silicone-free and lightweight.  Plus, I like the idea of a primer mist- it's new and interesting.  But it almost sounds like a setting spray or a mineral water mist so I'm not sure how well it preps your skin for makeup.  Still... I want to try it, how about you?

You can purchase it or see more information at Ulta.com

YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil Review and Swatches in I Rose You 4

$
0
0
YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil  ($32) is new for Spring 2015 and I purchased it from Sephora a few weeks ago during my birthday haul.  I don't make a habit of spending $32 on lip products, but I love the idea of a tinted lip oil because oils are so moisturizing on dry lips...they just seal hydration in without evaporating and have a melty texture that feels so soothing.  I've been loving my Yes to Coconuts Cooling Lip Oil (see my review here) but that doesn't have color so I generally only wear it at night. So until the drugstores decide to come out with tinted oils, I'm stuck shelling out the big bucks if I want one with color.
Like all YSL products, the packaging is definitely luxurious.  The silver tube has a pretty pink band around the middle with the YSL logo stamped into it and the tube itself feels really heavy and substantial.
Currently, there are 8 shades but I heard that they will be releasing more in early 2015.  I chose the shade I Rose You which is a light pink.  I'll post photos of the other shades below.

The applicator is a soft, plush diamond-shaped design that YSL uses for some of their other lip products, and it's pretty wide so you can cover your lips with one swipe on the top and one on the bottom.  I prefer this to the standard doe-foot applicator that's smaller and takes several passes to fully apply the product.
Description:
Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-in-Oil is a revolutionary lip color with a lip tint suspended in a deep conditioning oil. Infused with a blend of four essential oils for deep hydration—including apricot kernel oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil and passiflora edulis seed oil—the lightweight color melts onto your lips while enveloping them in full, non-sticky color. Its exclusive applicator envelops your lips fully, allowing for precise and uniform application. Your lips are left with their natural beauty enhanced and drenched in luminous shine.
This formula contains Apricot Kernel Oil, Coriander Fruit Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, and Possiflora Edulis Seed Oil and feels amazing on your lips!  I noticed when reading the reviews on Sephora's website that a lot of people complained that this shade (I Rose You) had no color to it and that it was almost clear, but if you wait a few minutes, the color deepens after being in contact with your skin.  This particular shade is one of the lightest in the range, and in the photos below, you can see when I first swatched it and then after about 60 seconds it got a little pinker.
Just swatched

ysl volupte tint-in-oil i rose you
After 1 minute

I have somewhat pale lips without much color to them naturally, so lighter colors show up pretty well on me.  If you're looking for a deeper color though, there are a few in this range...just keep in mind, these are lip tints so they aren't going to be super pigmented.  They're intended to give just a sheer wash of color.
This formula has a fruity scent, sort of like watermelon candy which I happen to like, but if you're not a fan of scented lip products I wanted to put that out there. The oil is so smooth, non-sticky and very hydrating.  It looks super glossy upon application, but like other glosses this fades after about an hour or so especially if you're eating and drinking.  I was pleasantly surprised that the color stuck around for several hours, so the pigments seem to stain your lips a bit.
Before
ysl volupte tint-in-oil I rose you
After

Overall, I am obsessed with this lip oil and I'm seriously thinking about getting it in more shades but I want to wait until the rest come out before I buy any more.  I usually don't wear color on my lips when I'm just bumming around home, but this is so super hydrating and makes my lips feel amazing that I've been wearing it 24/7! This is one of those products I don't mind splurging on because it's just that fantastic. I'm hoping that maybe L'Oreal will make their own version soon because they own YSL and typically release dupes a few months later (remember the Glossy Stains?).

Here are the 8 shades currently available:
Undress Me, I Rose You, Cherry My Cherie, Peach Me Love
Pink About Me, Oh My Gold, Drive Me Copper, Crush Me Orange

Aussie has just released a new collection of hair products for Spring 2015 called Total Miracle. These products claim to have 7 benefits-in-one (which kind of reminds me of products like "It's a 10" that are supposed to solve multiple problems).  Let's take a look...

There are three products in the line...a Shampoo, Conditioner, and Dry Shampoo.

Total Miracle Shampoo: Packed with 7 benefits in 1 bottle, it starts by cleansing your tresses to reveal brilliant, natural shine.  The moisture-enriched serum infusion protects your hair from dryness, split ends, and breakage.  On top of that, this miraculous shampoo makes your hair more manageable by detangling your strands.  The result?  Your hair is less prone to damage and breakage.  Follow with Aussie Total Miracle Collection 7-N-1 Conditioner and emerge from the shower with a head full of silky smooth hair.  Because around here, we make Aussome hair easy!

Total Miracle ConditionerGet 7 benefits to your hair after just 1 wash.  Drench dry, damaged strands with this serum-infused, frizz-fighting formula and tame your mane all day long.  A dollop of this conditioner makes combing a breeze by detangling strands and making your hair easy to manage!  Lather up with Aussie Total Miracle 7-N-1 Shampoo, then comb this conditioner through your hair.  Emerge from the shower with strong, frizz-free hair that's soft and smooth to the touch.  Because around here, we make Aussome hair easy!

Total Miracle Dry Shampoo: For those days between shampoos, whip out Aussie Total Miracle Collection 7-N-1 Dry Shampoo and refresh your hair in 1 easy step.  Shake the can, and then shake some more - don't be afraid to put a little muscle into it! - then spray directly to your roots for an instant boost of freshness.  The natural tapioca instantly absorbs excess oil, cutting serious time off your hair care routine.  And the tropical scent leaves you smelling Aussome! The Total Miracle Collection 7-N-1 Dry Shampoo is a miracle clean in a can, packing 7 benefits in every spray:  A 1st day clean look, a boost of freshness, lightweight fullness, color protection, a refreshed feel, a matte finish, and an Aussome scent.  Take your hair care routine down to one minute for carefree hair with time to spare!  Pair with Aussie Total Miracle Collection 7-N-1 Shampoo and Conditioner for 100% miraculous hair.

I normally have great luck with Aussie products...I love their 3 Minute Miracle, it's amazing.  So I'm really looking forward to trying these! What about you?

New Nivea In-Shower Body Lotions

$

In-Shower body lotions are something I don't see too often, especially in the drugstore, but it's kind of an interesting concept.  I recently tried one by Lush called Ro's Argan Body Conditioner and it worked really well, but it was expensive ($32.95) and I didn't care for the rose scent.  Since then, I've been keeping an eye out for a similar type of product, and viola!  These just showed up at Target, Walgreens, and Drugstore.com...take a look!

The idea behind an in-shower lotion is that you smooth it on while you're still in the shower (after cleansing) and then rinse it off before you get out...just like hair conditioner. It soaks into the skin and eliminates the need to use a body lotion when you get out of the shower. Supposedly, applying it in the shower with all that moisture and steam helps it to penetrate better- kind of like how you've always been told to apply body lotion or oil while your skin is still damp...it helps to lock in the moisture.

These come in three formulas...Nourishing, Hydrating, and Smoothing.

Description:
The first Skin Conditioner from Nivea®
This unique skin pampering In-Shower Body Lotion helps deeply moisturize the skin.  Result:  Promotes skin that is left feeling smooth and moisturized right after the shower.

Nourishing:
  • Helps Moisturize Instantly
  • Promotes No Sticky Feel
  • For Very Dry Skin
  • Almond Oil
  • Helps Moisturize Instantly
  • Promtoes No Sticky Feel
  • For Normal to Dry Skin
  • Sea Minerals
Smoothing:
  • Helps Moisturize Instantly
  • Promotes No Sticky Feel
  • For Dry Skin
  • Shea Butter
What do you think of this idea?  Would you try an in-shower lotion or do you think it sounds strange? When I first tried the Lush one, I felt like I was washing half the product down the drain, but it really did work...my skin felt really soft and I didn't need a body lotion afterwards. I think I would definitely try these, but I'm curious as to what they smell like.

GLAMGLOW Supercleanse Mud to Foam Cleanser Review

$

On a recent Sephora birthday haul (thanks to my husband for the gift card!) I decided to try a few of the new Spring 2015 products. It was a bit of a risk since most of them didn't even have reviews yet, but I took the plunge anyway.
One of the items I bought was from GLAMGLOW. They've just released a mud-to-foam cleanser called Supercleanse ($39) and I really wanted to try it since I've enjoyed the samples of their masks I've gotten in a few of my subscription boxes. Even though $39 is a bit steep for a cleanser I was intrigued by the thought of a mud mask that turns into a cleanser and figured it might be worth the money it does double duty. Let's take a look!
I was surprised by how big the bottle was! It came in a cardboard cylinder that I thought was really nice, but kind of a waste of packaging since it's just getting thrown out anyway. When you open the cylinder, you're greeted by the words, "Hello Sexy" printed on the top part of the tube which made me laugh...it's a cute little touch.
The bottle itself has a pump top which is perfect...it keeps things neat and clean and dispenses just the right amount of product with one pump. Much easier than those jars!

Here, you can see how big the bottle is next to my Neutrogena Cleanser. The weird thing is, the GLAMGLOW is 5 oz. and the Neutrogena is 5.2 oz. so there must be extra packaging somewhere that's making this appear larger than it actually is.
When you first pump the Supercleanse out, it looks like mud...it's thick and black. It smells minty and a bit like eucalyptus.  It's a pleasant scent, not sinus-clearing or too strong, but perfect for waking you up in the morning.  Actually, that's when I prefer to use this since you can't use it on your eyes.  I remove my makeup at night so this is the perfect morning cleanser since I don't have any makeup to remove.
It spreads on dry skin very easily...much more so than the mask which tends to dry up really quickly. At this point, you can either leave it on as a mask for a few minutes, or start adding water.
The packaging claims that when you add water, this turns into a foam, but I didn't really get any foam or suds from this. It did emulsify and felt like it was cleansing my face, but to say it foams is stretching it a bit.
As you continue to add water, the product thins out and eventually disappears altogether leaving you with bright, clean skin.
I am super impressed with Supercleanse and here's why...with this, you're basically getting a GLAMGLOW mask, without all the pieces of leaves in it, for $39 as opposed to $69 for the mask. Plus, the cleanser is 5 oz. while the mask is 1.2 oz.
This cleanser has ingredients that are very similar to their Supermud treatment.  Both contain Kaolin clay, Eucalyptus, Charcoal, and AHA's to chemically exfoliate.  Supermud also has a BHA and some additional AHA's as well as pieces of leaves, so I like to think of the cleanser as a gentler version of the Supermud. This is good news for those of you who found the Supermud to be too harsh or irritating.

Overall, this is a spa-like cleanser that really deep cleans and leaves my skin glowing and clear.  I've been using it three mornings a week and I haven't experienced irritation or breakouts from it at all.  I think it's a lot gentler and easier to use than the masks, so it's a great alternative at a better price!

What do you think?  Would you try Supercleanse? Do you use any other GLAMGLOW products?

Makeup Revolution is always launching new products...sometimes so fast I can't keep up with them! On a recent Black Friday haul, I picked up four of the new #Liphug lipsticks...at only $3.95 each, I couldn't resist them (and had to stop myself from buying more than 4)! I've seen other bloggers compare these to MAC Lustre lipsticks and Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colors, though I haven't tried either one so unfortunately, I won't be able to compare them here.
Description:
SUPER-HUGs are here! SUPER-INTENSIVE, SUPER-WEARABLE, SUPER-HUGABLE LIPS!
Go beyond Happy! Everyone will want to get close to your lips!
#LIPHUG. Our incredible new lipstick formulation. The perfect lipstick for the balance of incredible colour with incredible comfort and staying power.
your lips will feel…super-comfortable, super-loved, super-hugable!
20 Incredible BRAND NEW shades join the MAKEUP REVOLUTION too!

#Liphug comes packaged in sleek black tubes with gold lettering and the outer boxes are bright red. It looks and feels higher-end and it's hard to believe these are under $4.

From left: We Have Come Too Far, Love Can Set You Free, Not Giving Up, Save Me From Yourself
The formula is really moisturizing and felt so comfortable on my lips which are always really dry. Honestly, it was almost balm-like and had a really nice shiny finish. They were nicely pigmented as well! I got several hours of wear from these but they were all a bit different based on the color..the darker shades lasted longer (5-6 hours) and left a stain behind while the lighter shades faded faster (2-3 hours).

Overall, these are probably my favorite lipsticks of the moment since they're so hydrating...perfect for this time of year. Plus, they're just so affordable! I think I'll order more shades on my next Makeup Revolution haul.

E.L.F. Skincare Has Arrived!

Good news Elf fans...they've just announced that they're launching a skincare line and of course, it's going to be super affordable, just like their makeup and brushes. Currently, there's a presale on the Elf Website so they're not available yet, and the thing that's sort of bumming me out is that out of the 10 products they're showing on the website, only 4 of them will be available in January.
Honestly, I'm finding their whole pre-sale process kind of annoying.  Here's how it works...

You choose the items you want and pre-order them.  Then in January, 4 out of the 10 skincare products (they don't tell you which ones) will ship out, with free shipping, to the people who placed pre-orders for them. So guess what? If you chose any of the 6 products that aren't part of that initial launch, you'll get nothing at all. So what happens with the other 6 products? Elf will use the pre-order data to decide which products got the most pre-orders and then will choose the most popular products to launch at a later date.

I'm not a fan of this whole process, because they're getting people excited about products that they may or may not receive (and in fact, that they may not even launch if it doesn't get enough pre-orders). I say just launch them all now and see how it goes!

Anyway, here are the products and descriptions in no particular order:

iconWhat do you think of the ingredients?  They seem to be pretty straightforward and so many of them are repeated in many of the products like Jojoba, Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and Cucumber. They aren't groundbreaking ingredients by any means, but they're hydrating at the very least.
I don't know...I'm thinking I'll probably wait until these are officially for sale and see which products made the cut.  Then I'll place an order.  I just don't want to put items in my cart only to be disappointed if they don't show up. What about you guys?  What do you think of the whole presale process- fun or annoying?

Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra Nourishing Blush Review and Swatches

Physicians Formula has launched a new line for Spring 2015 called Argan Wear and all of the products in the line are infused with, you guessed it...argan oil. I recently reviewed the 100% Argan Oil and it was a total Josie Maran dupe!  So I purchased a few more items in the line, including this Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil Blush ($12.95) at Bed, Bath and Beyond.  Take a look...
This blush is infused with ultra-hydrating Moroccan argan oil, as well as light-reflecting pigments to perfect your skin and give an ethereal glow. It comes in two different shades, Natural which is the lightest one (that's what I'm reviewing today) and Rose which is a darker pink.
I have to say, this could be the prettiest blush I've ever owned! It caught my eye in the store right away and I was almost afraid to use it because I didn't want to mess it up.

It comes in a gold plastic compact with two mirrors...one inside the top lid, and one underneath where the brush compartment is.
There's a bit of gold shimmer overspray on these blushes that disappears after the first few uses. I'm glad it was just overspray since it was way too glittery for me until I removed that top layer.
There are three different shades in this blush...the center is a bright, fiery coral color, then there's a light pink around that and a darker pink in the background.
Under the blush, there's a brush with another mirror. I'm not a fan of flat blush brushes-I prefer traditionally shaped ones-but this one is softer than most brushes they include with products so it'll definitely work in a pinch!
Here I swatched the coral shade by itself, then the pink shades, then all three together all the way to the right.

This blush is so super creamy! It feels almost like a cream-to-powder formula even though it's just powder. It's nicely pigmented, super soft, and blends beautifully into my skin without being dry or chalky. It feels way more high-end than it is!
Overall, I think this is my favorite blush in a long time. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but the feel and wear of it is amazing and the color is beautiful. I also love that I can use the colors individually or swirl them together for different effects. I definitely recommend this one...go grab it if you can find it!

New L'oreal Blow Dry It Hair Products Spotted at Target

Thanks to longtime reader Jill, who let me know about some new L'oreal hair products she spotted at her local Target! I ended up going to Target myself today and was able to find them as well. The new line is called Blow Dry It and consists of three products to create and maintain the perfect blowout. Let's take a look!
First up is the Quick Dry Primer Spray ($3.99).  This goes on first to help cut drying time and offer heat protection.

Next is the Thermal Smoother Cream ($3.99).  This tames frizz and also offers heat protection.

Finally, the Blowout Longwear Spray ($3.99) is a dry shampoo, but according to the instructions, you use it immediately after blowdrying to extend the life of your blowout.  Then you can use it as necessary after that.  Interesting...I never thought to use a dry shampoo as prevention, I normally use it to perk up second day hair.

I bought the primer and thermal cream, so look for reviews coming soon! I'm really excited to try these, what about you?

New Acure Organics Natural Skincare at Target

Today during my trip to Target I spotted a skincare brand in the natural products aisle that I have never heard of before called Acure Organics.  I did a little bit of research on the company and found some really great things that I can't wait to share with you.  I really love that Target is always bringing in new and up-and-coming brands because it's exciting to have easy access to a larger array of products and brands that previously might have only been found online or in bigger cities.

The display at my Target contained 8 Acure products, but there are more than that on their website.  I can only assume that they're trying out a sampling for now to see how well they sell before expanding the line in store. Or, it's possible that some of the larger Target stores will carry more of the line.

About the Company:
Acure is all about using pure, natural, organic, fair trade ingredients that actually work and have science behind them.  I'm intrigued by that because I love using high-tech products to prevent aging but they're often chemical-laden.  Most of the all-natural products I've tried are great moisturizers but have lacked the results I've gotten with ingredients like retinol.
Acure also believes in a triple bottom line...that people and planet are just as important as profits. They're a family owned and operated company that the owner had started to honor her grandmother, who passed away from breast cancer.

The Products:

Don’t slack, this is a firm offer! Act now!
You may have seen the in the descriptions above an ingredient called Chlorella Growth Factor.  This is where their anti-aging products go high-tech! I'm such a geek when it comes to this stuff...

"CGF is truly a skin care miracle.

CGF is rich in RNA and DNA, the nucleic acids that create life. Your body’s creation of RNA and DNA is significantly reduced in our early twenties, leading to aging. Our CGF contains 10,000 mg per 100g of RNA, the highest source available for your skin. Healthy cells count on the perfect replication of our RNA and DNA. CGF helps boost this process and protect our DNA and RNA during the replication process. CGF is also clinically proven to protect collagen and elastin fibers from the enzymes that destroy them.

Clinical studies have shown CGF to increase collagen expression by 333% when used at 1% concentration*. Our anti-aging products use our CGF at an amazing 5% concentration."

I purchased the eye cream because that's where I notice wrinkles the most.  So I'm excited to start using this daily and will post a review in a few weeks!

Have you heard of/used Acure products?  Or are you thinking about trying it?

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints Now at Rite Aid!

L.A. Girl's Glazed Lip Paints have gotten famous this past year, partly because the formula is awesome, and partly because they look like Too Faced Melted dupes. I have yet to post a review on them...I've been swamped with new products coming out left and right, but a few months ago I had ordered them online because no stores near me carried them. Then last month I spotted them at Harmons, and now they're in Rite Aid! So far there are only the 6 original shades (they've since added 12 more) but it's a start! Plus, they're .51 cheaper at Rite Aid than on the L.A. Girl website.

L'oreal Infallible Smokissime Eyeliner Review and Swatches

$
0
0
L'oreal Infallible Smokissime ($8.99 Target) is a brand new eyeliner for Spring 2015 with a twist- it's a powder liner in a pen!  Let's take a look...
This pen has a sponge-tipped applicator and powder contained within the cap.  L'oreal describes the powder as gel-like and they claim up to 14 hours of wear. This is supposed to be a smoky-eye-in-a-pen, no smudging or other brushes needed.
The pen itself is chubbier than I thought it would be...it's somewhere in between a regular eyeliner and a mascara tube.  It has a matte black finish with gold lettering and looks high-end and modern.

The sponge-tipped applicator is also much larger than I imagined, so it would be difficult to draw a thin precise line with it. But at the same time, this product is really meant to give a smudgy, smoky look so it's not about precision here.
I purchased the shade Taupe Smoke, but it also comes in Black Smoke, Brown Smoke, and Purple Smoke.  The swatch below shows how thick the line is when using the tip of the applicator.  The formula is indeed a gel-like powder, it's not dry or chalky and I didn't experience any fallout (which I was expecting). It glided on easily and stayed put for about 9 hours (I washed my face at that point...so it likely would have lasted quite a bit longer).
Taupe Smoke
Overall, this is an amazing product for helping to create a smoky eye- it makes it so easy!  I still wanted to blend with a brush a bit afterward because the sponge applicator kind of skipped and dragged on my eyelids. So the claim that this is all you need is somewhat of a stretch for me, but in a pinch, it would definitely get the job done by itself. Also, I like that the applicator doesn't pick up too much powder at one time so there's no fear of over-applying.  I was really impressed that the powder didn't get all over the place or end up a smeary mess...it has major staying power!
I had a feeling I would love this since I'm crazy about the Silkissime eyeliners.  What about you? Have you tried this, or do you want to?
You can purchase this at Target for $8.99
