Lorac Mega Pro Palette 3 Review & Swatches

The Lorac Mega Pro 3 ($59) launches tomorrow, October 2 exclusively at Ulta.com and I was so excited to get my hands on it early when it was available for Ulta Platinum Members last week. I own several Lorac palettes, but have never owned one of the Mega Pro palettes...they always sell out before I can grab one and since they're limited edition, they're gone forever once inventory runs out.

Whether you're a devoted Lorac fan or haven't tried anything from the brand yet, keep on reading to find out if the Mega Pro 3 is worth a purchase!

The Lorac Mega Pro 3 comes in a super slim cardboard compact that's very travel friendly despite it being a bit larger than your average eyeshadow palette. This year's color scheme is white and rose gold...aaahhh...my favorite combo!

Despite how beautiful it looks at first, keep in mind that it's going to get dir-ty. Lorac's eyeshadow formula tends to kick up a lot of powder so expect the inside to get a little messy after the first use, while the outside will pick up your fingerprints if you have any makeup on your hands. Mine already has foundation smudges on the outside...sigh.

Inside, you get 32 eyeshadows...16 matte and 16 shimmer in both warm and cool tones. There's something for everyone in this palette, which is one reason it's definitely worth the money. Also, the regular Pro palettes retail for $44 and have 16 shades, so for $15 more, you're getting double the amount of eyeshadows...it's a great deal!

If you already own other Pro palettes, you'll be happy to know that there are only two repeat shades in this version...Snow from the Pro 2 palette and Jet Black from the recent Pro 3 palette. I own both of those (but not the original Pro palette) and when I compared the shades to the previous versions I couldn't find a single dupe. Some of the shades in the different palettes looked similar at a glance but when I compared them, there was always something that made them different, whether they were warmer or cooler, pinker or more orange, etc.
So if you already own other Lorac palettes, you can feel confident knowing that you're getting 30 brand new shades in here.

If you've never tried Lorac eyeshadows before, they are highly pigmented, very blendable, and super soft to the point of almost feeling creamy. Because they are so soft, they kick up a lot of powder but they're never dry or chalky. They're one of my favorite eyeshadow formulas because they're just so easy to use and blend on your eyes.

Here, I swatched all four rows starting with the top two that are all matte. They're just beautiful and you can really see just how pigmented they are...
Left to Right: Pink Cream, Tan, Pecan, Walnut, Dusty Mauve, Violet Gray, Eggplant, & Dk. Navy

Left to Right: Crepe, Toffee, Mist, Vintage, Hickory, Maple, Bark, & Jet Black
The bottom two rows are shimmer shades and while some of them almost have a metallic finish, none of them are what I would call glittery. The shimmer is very finely milled and just creates a glowing effect on your eyes.
Left to Right: Snow, Cava, Cider, Bellini, Brown Sugar, Sequoia, Glacier, Deep Fog
Left to Right: Tulle, Pink Bronze, Rust, Rose Quartz, Olive, Dark Roast, Pomegranate, Licorice
There are so many beautiful shades in this palette but if I had to pick a favorite, I would say Rose Quartz (in the fourth row) is the shade I can see myself using the most. It's stunning! In fact, the bottom row might be my favorite row of the Mega Pro 3 because of shades like Rust, Olive, Rose Quartz, and Pomegranate...they're perfect warm-toned fall shades and I've been wearing them the most.

Overall, this palette is definitely worth the splurge. It's filled with staple shades that you'll use every day in a beautifully pigmented and easy-to-blend formula. It's also a great deal, because you're getting the equivalent of two Pro palettes for $59.

Head on over to Ulta.com (it's also in Ulta stores starting today). The Mega Pro palettes have a tendency to sell out within the first day of launching, so you don't want to miss out on this one!
