Nourish Organic Skincare Review

If you believe that what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it, you're going to love Nourish Organic! Based in Beaver Falls, PA they produce natural, organic, eco-friendly skincare products that really work, with ingredient lists you can pronounce and feel good about. I recently had the opportunity to try some of their products and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts with you. Let's get started!
nourish organic skincare review

First and foremost, I was really impressed by the Pledge of Purity on every box, which states that the products do not contain:

parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, artificial fragrances or preservatives, silicones, propylene glycol, mineral oils, sulfates, synthetic dyes, triclosan, EDTA or aluminum.

Nourish Organic is chemical free, cruelty free and concern free. The best part is, these products are affordable and can be found at stores like Target, Whole Foods, and the Vitamin Shoppe.
organic natural skincare review

The first product I tried from the brand is their new Skin Solve Cream-to-Oil All-Over Treatment ($19.99). If you love the deep hydration you can get from oils but don't want the mess, this starts as a creamy base and melts into an oil when it touches your skin. It smells heavenly, thanks to the Sweet Orange Oil...it kind of reminds me of a creamcicle.
nourish organic skin solve review

You can use this anywhere on the body, "from eyelids to elbows"! You can use it to hydrate your lips, soften your cuticles, smooth flyaways in your hair...just about anything you can think of! I love to use it on my lips at night and all of the usual places I have rougher skin patches (knees, elbows, feet). It soaks in quickly and doesn't leave a greasy mess.  I would say it's a 100% natural dupe for Josie Maran's Infinity Creamy Oil!
Nourish Organic Skin Solve review

Skin Solve contains an impressive ingredient list full of natural oils and butters. The 13 all-organic ingredients are:
Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil,  Jojoba Seed Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Beeswax, Cupuacu Butter,  Cocoa Seed Butter, Sweet Orange Oil,  Soy Lecithin, Vitamin E, Pumpkin Seed Oil, and Palmarosa Oil.
Nourish Organic Skin Solve review

One thing I wanted to mention, is that the box says to store it at room temperature because it will thicken at cooler temps and thin out at warmer temps. When I first got this, it had been sitting in the mailbox on a warm day and when I opened the tube, it was thin like an oil. So I popped it into the fridge for a while and it thickened up into a butter-like consistency and was hard to squeeze out. But once I took it out of the fridge and left it on my counter for a while, it went to it's normal consistency, which is a cream and it's stayed that way ever since (we have central air in our house so it's been at a steady room temperature).
Nourish Organic Skin Solve review

This is what it looks like straight from the tube...it's yellow in color and has a soft creamy texture.
Nourish Organic Skin Solve review

When you start to rub it into the skin, it turns into an oil that feels so nourishing and sinks right into your skin.
Nourish Organic Skin Solve review
Overall,  I absolutely love Skin Solve...it's a great all-in-one product that has so many amazing ingredients. It makes my dry patches vanish and smells great too...I couldn't ask for more!

Next, I wanted to try the Nourish Organic Argan Face Serum (Reg. $23.99, on Currently on sale for $17.99). I have dry skin and this is formulated for normal to dry skin types. It claims to restore moisture, brighten the complexion and revitalize the skin with essential nutrients.
Nourish Organic Argan Face serum review

As we head into the fall and winter, my skin always craves extra moisture and I was using straight Argan Oil on my face last year, which was great. But this formula contains not only argan oil, but also jojoba oil which is the most similar in its structure to our skin's own natural sebum. This formula also contains Rosehip oil, which is filled with vitamins and antioxidants and has been said to smooth and correct the skin's texture and tone by helping to fade dark spots, acne scars, and fine lines.
Nourish Organic Argan Face serum review

The Argan Face Serum contains only 7 natural organic ingredients:

Safflower Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, and Vitamin E.
Nourish Organic Argan Face serum review

It has a thin texture that absorbs easily like most face serums do, but because it's made up of oils, it feels much more hydrating than your typical face serum. This is why it's best for normal to dry skin, as those with oily skin might find this heavy for a serum.
Still, if you're oily, you could use this as an overnight moisturizer rather than a serum to help revitalize the skin.
Nourish Organic Argan Face serum review

Next I wanted to try one of their Argan body products so I went with the Rejuvenating Argan Butter (Reg. $14.99, Currently on sale for $11.99). This rich butter helps to heal dry skin with a blend of Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Coconut Oil.

Nourish Organic Rejuvenating Argan Butter review

Nourish Organic Rejuvenating Argan Butter review

This formula is made with 56% Fair Trade Certified Ingredients, including:

Shea Butter, Sunflower Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Infused Sunflower Seed Oil, Corn Starch, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E.
Nourish Organic Rejuvenating Argan Butter review

Unlike some body butters that have a creamy texture, this one is actually a solid.
Nourish Organic Rejuvenating Argan Butter review

The second it touches your skin, it warms up and turns into a soft, buttery texture that melts in and absorbs quickly. It doesn't seem to have a scent, at least to my nose, which is great because then it doesn't compete with my perfume. I also love to use this at night before bed, as an allover softening treatment...I wake up in the morning with the softest, smoothest skin and no more dry patches!
Nourish Organic Rejuvenating Argan Butter review

Overall, I'm so happy to have found Nourish Organic and I can't wait to try more of their products! They create high quality products that are truly all natural and do what they claim to do...not to mention they're affordable and easy to find at your local Target or Whole Foods (for a list of all the stores they're in, click here).
Have you tried Nourish Organic yet? If so, what are your favorite products?

**Disclosure- The products mentioned in this post were sent to me for review by Nourish Organic, but all content and opinions are my own. I was not paid to write this review.**

SNEAK PEEK! Urban Decay Lip Vault and Eyeshadow Vault for Holiday 2015

$

I have an amazing sneak peek for you guys tonight...are you ready for this one?! Urban Decay is releasing two new vaults for Holiday 2015- The Urban Lip Vault and the Urban Eyeshadow Vault!

I shared these on Instagram earlier tonight and everyone is freaking out. I don't know how much they're going to be yet, the shades that are inside (although some you can figure out from the photos) or the release dates but I'll keep you in the loop as soon as I find out the details.

The Lip Vault Contains

6 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencils ($120 value)
2 Revolution Lipsticks ($44 value)
2 Sheer Revolution Lipsticks ($44 value)
2 Matte Revolution Lipsticks ($44 value)
1 Ultimate Ozone Primer Pencil ($16 value)
3 Revolution Lip Glosses ($66 value)

Total Value= $334

The Eyeshadow Vault Contains:

20 eyeshadows ($380 value).

I'm guessing that these will cost less than their actual retail values but I have no idea what the price points will be.

So who's putting these on their holiday wishlist?

Friday Faves- Liquid Lipstick Edition

I'm back with another edition of Friday Faves (how is it Friday already, seriously?), where I talk about my favorite products of-the-moment, both drugstore and high end. This week, I'm featuring my favorite liquid lipsticks (non-matte) in my favorite shades of mauve.  I've never been a red lipstick girl and nude washes me out terribly, but mauves just seem to work well with my complexion and are great for everyday as well as when I'm dressing up.

So let's get started!

butter london toff nyc expert lip lacquer madison square mauve

I admit that I originally bought Butter London's Lippy Liquid Lipstick ($18 at Ulta) in the shade Toff  simply because it was one of the most beautiful shades I've ever seen and to this day, I haven't found a drugstore dupe for it yet (but if you find one, be sure to hook a girl up!). It's a dusty-rosy mauve with a little purple in it.  But what actually got me hooked on it is the incredible pigmentation and super long-lasting formula. It is super thick...way more than a gloss but somehow it manages not to be sticky (but you can still feel it on your lips). It not only stays put for hours and hours, it also stains your lips, so the color keeps going long after the glossy finish wears off. It has a light vanilla cupcake scent and feels so hydrating, all of my little lip lines seem to plump up and disappear. This is one of those products I would gladly pay full price for, because it's worth every penny.

City Color Expert Last Lip Lacquer ($3.50 at Walmart, CVS) in Madison Square Mauve is a cheap thrill I found at CVS this past Spring when they first launched. These have amazing pigmentation and great staying power. Unlike the Butter London Lippie, this one feels very lightweight on my lips and sort of sinks in a bit so I don't feel it on my lips as much throughout the day.
It has a fruity scent that isn't my favorite, but I only notice it while I'm applying it and then it kind of fades away. My one complaint with this one (and it's not a big deal at all) is that the doe foot applicator is small so I have to dip back into the tube a few times to get enough product to cover my lips. It's kind of annoying because the formula is so nicely pigmented, I would be able to cover my lips in one or two passes if the wand held more product.
By the way, if you haven't seen my original review of the Expert Last Lip Lacquers, you can check out swatches of the rest of the shades here.

So these are my favorite liquid lipsticks right now and I've been wearing them a lot lately instead of glosses now that the weather has gotten cooler.
What are your favorite liquid lipsticks?

Dry Shampoo I'm Loving Now: Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo

A Review of Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo for dark tones, $22 at HSN

I've been a huge fan of Carol's Daughter for several years now...you may remember my reviews of several of their products in the past (see all of my Carol's Daughter Reviews here), but if not, I have to say that when I splurge on hair products, I go for Carol's Daughter every time. The Monoi line is a dream if you have dry hair with any kind of breakage or fallout. I started using it after having a baby and it's been a miracle worker (check out my review of the Monoi shampoo and conditioner with before and after photos of my hair- it's crazy!).
For the record, I am caucasian with baby fine hair that's already dry by nature, but then I torture it with heat styling and coloring too, so it's prone to breakage. Monoi Oil (a blend of Tiare flowers and Coprah Coconut Oil) has been a secret of Tahitian women for centuries and it works wonders to repair my hair without weighing it down or making it feel greasy. It also smells like Heaven!  So when I saw that Carol's Daughter had just released a Monoi dry shampoo, I had to have it. Let's take a look...
Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo review

This formula comes in two shades, one for Light Tones and one for Dark Tones. If you have brown to black hair and have ever used dry shampoo, you know how important this is! I went from blonde to brown last year and realized quickly that dry shampoo can make you look like you have dandruff if you're not careful to brush it all out...and even then little white flakes can still show up throughout the day. This one even helped to blend the few stray gray hairs I have...bonus!
Another great thing about this formula is that it doesn't dry flat and matte like a lot of dry shampoos do, it actually adds shine! Also, other dry shampoos can make your hair feel sticky and gummy but this one actually leaves your hair feeling silky and smooth...you can't even tell it's in there. It also has that delicious Monoi scent which I was really hoping for. I usually hate the scent of dry shampoos...they often smell like hairspray mixed with old lady perfume...gross. This one is a mix of coconut and gardenias and it's just lovely.
Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo review

Ingredients: Butane, Propane, SD Alcohol 40-B, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Tocopherol, Gardenia Tahitensis Flower Extract, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Phenonip, Diisopropyl Adipate, Fragrance (Parfum), Soyethyl Morpholinium Ethosulfate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499.

Here's what the color looks like...it comes out a medium brown shade.
Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo review

Overall, this is my favorite dry shampoo to date. It refreshes next day hair and gives me volume and shine, without that sticky, gunky feeling. Also, the brown tint is a lifesaver because I don't have to worry about it showing throughout the day.
Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioning Dry Shampoo is available now exclusively at hsn.com.

Profusion Make Me Blush Set- Blush Boutique Review & Swatches

The other day I wanted to go to Walgreens to see what was new because this time of year, the holiday sets start to hit the shelves. But lately, I have a hard time just going to Walgreens because the one in my town is right next door to a petting zoo that my 2 year old loves! He usually cries if we go into Walgreens first because he thinks I'm not taking him to see the animals....so I take him there first and then we can go to Walgreens. Haha...at least the petting zoo is only open for a few more weeks and I'll be able go straight into Wags without making that pit stop.
So after we fed the goats, sheep and cows, we headed in (with my son singing "Old McDonald" at the top of his lungs) and right in front, an employee was starting to put out the holiday sets. A lot of them are the same ones I've seen in years past, but then one caught my eye...it's a set of 4 Profusion Blush Boutique blushes with a blush brush and it was only $5. Done and done.

It comes in a hinged box and inside, the blushes and the brush are all nicely sized. Since the set was only $5, I thought they might be tiny, but that's definitely not the case. When you break it down, each piece in this kit costs $1 which is just crazy!

I love the pyramid pattern that's been stamped into the blushes...it gives them that extra special, higher-end look. Looking at the shades in the compacts, they all have a tiny bit of sheen to them, but three of them swatch matte while the fourth one (the lightest shade) has visible shimmer when swatched.
The brush is surprisingly good quality...soft and fluffy!

The formula of these is wonderful...they feel like velvet. They're super soft and buttery and feel like a cream. Pigmentation-wise, they rival any high-end brand...they're super intense and really blendable and easy to work with. I tried using this brush and was happy to see it pick up a ton of product (I had to tap some of it off) and while these do have a little bit of fallout, it's not bad at all. They don't have that dusty, powdery feel that some blushes have...they're just so creamy and beautiful.

Pink Ice is  a really pretty light peachy pink. It's the one shade that has visible shimmer when swatched, but I wouldn't even call it shimmery. It just gives it more of a pearlized effect.
Profusion Blush Boutique in Pink Ice
Coral Mousse is a matte peachy coral shade.

Rumba is a bright pink with a hint of coral.
Profusion Blush Boutique in Rumba
Vira is a gorgeous cool-toned hot pink.

These babies swatch like a dream as you can see here. The shades are just beautiful and I have a hard time believing I paid $1 for each one.

I can't wait to go back to Walgreens and see what else Profusion brings us this Holiday season. When I was there, they were just starting to stock the shelves so there may be a lot more to come!
Next time you're near a Walgreens, I highly recommend grabbing this set, but hurry because I got the second-to-last one at my store. It looks like this one is going to be really popular.

Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches

The Disney Villains makeup collection has arrived at Walgreens, and with Halloween right around the corner, it's the perfect time to launch some badass beauty products featuring the Evil Queen, Ursula, and Maleficent. There are beauty books, a Maleficent contour palette and more, but the first thing that jumped out at me was the Evil Queen's Jealous Blush ($3.50 at Walgreens stores or at Drugstore.com) because it looks a heck of a lot like Nars Orgasm. Let's take a closer look...
Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches

The packaging is well-suited to a villain...black with medieval-style lettering in dark red.

The compact has Snow White's nemesis on the cover looking just as pissed off as ever because she's not the fairest of them all.  It's really cute packaging and the size is really generous at .29 oz (almost double the size of Nars Orgasm which is .16 oz).
Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches

Inside, the blush is a beautiful pinky peach with golden shimmer...universally flattering!
Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches

Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches

The texture is very soft and easy to pick up with a brush and blend. The pigmentation is fantastic as well. I've been wearing this the last few days and it's long-lasting on my skin which I wasn't expecting (but am really happy about!).
Disney Villains Jealous Blush Review & Swatches
Overall, this is a short little mini-review, but if you're looking for a really inexpensive pinky peach blush (or you're a collector of all things Disney), Jealous is a great pick! I'm actually surprised to see this going for $9 or $10 on Ebay considering Drugstore.com still has it in stock for $3.50. Still, this is a limited edition, so if you don't want to miss it and end up paying a premium on Ebay, head on over to your local Walgreens before they disappear (or grab one at Drugstore.com).

Profusion Studio Highlight Palette Swatches & First Impression

I wandered into Five Below this morning to see what was new in the makeup aisle and at first it looked like the same stuff that's been there for a while. But then I started pushing things aside and looking toward the back of the shelves and there was a bunch of brand new stuff just hiding back there (I posted the other things I found on my Instagram page today in case you're curious).

The Profusion Studio Highlight palette ($4)  was the first thing I pulled out and I was like...what!? You guys know I love my highlighters and while it's easy to find highlight/contour palettes, a full highlighter palette is more of a rare thing, especially at the drugstore!

Profusion can definitely be hit or miss but I decided to try this based on my fantastic experience with their Blush Boutique kit earlier this week (see that post here). I couldn't wait to get this home and play with it a little bit, so here are my first impressions...
profusion studio highlight palette swatches review

This kit is generously sized and the pans are perfect for getting a brush into them. Here it is next to L'oreal La Palette Nude for reference. If you know how large the La Palette Nudes are, you can appreciate this comparison, even though one is eyeshadow and one is highlighter. I mainly wanted to show the overall size compared to something you're probably familiar with.
profusion studio highlight palette swatches review

It comes with a protective plastic sheet over it that's taped down on both sides to prevent tampering. I really appreciated this because a lot of times when I go into Five Below, everything is broken or has been swatched already. Unfortunately, the names of the shades are on the plastic sheet so unless you want to keep it, you won't have the shade names available to you.
profusion studio highlight palette swatches review

There's a really nice range of shades in this palette, so no matter what your skin tone, you'll find at least one (if not more) in here that suits you. On my pale skin, I can use the first two in the top row (White Pearl and Pale Gold) and the first two in the bottom row (Golden Pearl and Golden Nude). The bronzy shades are too dark for me to use as highlighters (and too shimmery to use as bronzers) but they do make great eyeshadows!
profusion studio highlight palette swatches review

Here are the swatches and I have to say, this is definitely another winner from Profusion! These shades are soft, pigmented and absolutely beautiful. The only shade I had a little trouble with was Pale Gold...it felt a little bit gritty compared to the others.  I'm guessing it may have a little bit of a chunkier shimmer in it, but it's still beautiful nonetheless. One that really stood out to me was White Pearl because it has this gorgeous blue-purple shift that's hard to see in photos but it looks amazing in person. The Golden shades are beautiful as well. I still can't believe that this entire palette was under $5...it's just amazing.
profusion studio highlight palette swatches review
I haven't seen any other reviews on this palette except for a brief first impression on YouTube (the video is here...skip to 11:34 to see this palette). The YouTuber, Alexisjayda said that she got hers at Ross for $5.99, so if you live near a Ross store and not a Five Below, you still may be able to get this (although it's $2 more at Ross). Unfortunately, I can't find any online retailers that have it... even Profusion's website doesn't have it, which stinks.
So remember...if you go to Five Below and you don't see this right away, start digging into the shelves a little bit because it might be behind some other things like it was at my local store.
So what do you think of this palette? Have you seen it anywhere yet?

I have a great sneak peek for you guys tonight, courtesy of @lindahallbergs on Instagram... Too Faced is launching six new shades of their Melted Liquified Lipsticks called Melted Chocolate! There will be three metallic shades and three long wear shades. I want to get my hands on these so badly, and not just because the colors are beautiful, perfect cold weather shades. My inquiring mind needs to know...do these smell/taste like chocolate???

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor Spotted in Stores

The new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors are finally hitting drugstores! I've been waiting for these since August when I shared a sneak peek with you guys and they're finally here! I haven't personally seen them yet, but they're popping up in my Instagram feed so I wanted to share some photos with you!

This first photo is from @huyenmnguyen on Instagram and she spotted them at her local HEB (a Texas chain of grocery stores).

Next up is a display pic from @drugstoredreamer on Instagram so you'll know what it looks like. There are six shades and the display says that these are a 100% wax-free gel formula. That lines up with what I've been hearing about these, which is that they're not super matte on the drydown...they do have some sheen. Usually matte lippies have that powdery finish, but I can't see a gel formula having that, so it's kind of interesting. I'm actually hopeful that I can wear these because I have a lot of trouble with the powdery matte formulas accentuating dryness in my lips. Fingers crossed that these are more comfortable!

I've also heard that these are at Rite Aid, so I'll be checking there tomorrow. Has anyone out there seen or tried these yet? I'd love to know what you think!

Maybelline Baby Lips Winter Edition Swatches + First Look

I was so excited when I spotted this display at Bed, Bath & Beyond this morning! Maybelline has just released four new Baby Lips shades called Winter Edition ($3.39 each). I love Baby Lips and have collected most of the shades that have been released over the years, but this time what really caught my eye were the two fall-like shades in this collection. Normally, Baby Lips are cute pastels or brights, so I was excited to see a brownish nude and red this time around!
I ended up getting all four shades to swatch for you guys so let's take a look...
maybelline baby lips winter edition

Another thing I noticed was that these are all named after fall/winter treats, so it made me wonder if they were actually scented like their names instead of the usual fruity smell. It turns out that they are! Cocoa Crush has a chocolate scent, Spice It Up! has a spiced apple cider scent, Sprinkled Pink smells like a sugar cookie, and Mint Please smells like a candy cane! I should mention that all of the scents aren't very strong or overpowering...they're actually pretty subtle with Spice It Up being the strongest of the scents. I admit that I wish the chocolate one was a little stronger, but it's still yummy and so is the spiced apple scent. I'm actually happy with the mint-scented one even though I usually hate minty scented lip products, because this one doesn't blast you with mint, it's a softer sweet-mint.
maybelline baby lips winter edition swatches

The shades look really pretty in the tubes and none of them are overly sparkly or shimmery. They all go on with a bit of sheen, but nothing dramatic.
maybelline baby lips cocoa crush swatches review

maybelline baby lips spice it up review swatches

These are mostly sheer, as Baby Lips tend to be. Mint Please is basically clear and just leaves a pearly sheen on your lips. Sprinkled Pink is a Barbie Pink (or as I like to call it, Pepto Bismol). Cocoa Crush is a beautiful nude shade, and Spice It Up!, which is the most pigmented shade, is a sheer brick red color.
maybelline baby lips winter swatches review

Overall, I'm liking Cocoa Crush and Spice It Up! the best. Cocoa Crush is the perfect every day shade and Spice it Up is actually very pigmented and leaves my lips a soft red shade. Mint Please doesn't leave any color behind and Sprinkled Pink looks kind of strange on my lips...I've never really liked Pepto Pink shades on me, so I don't see myself wearing those very much. I'm wishing they had done more dark shades for winter because Mint Please and Sprinkled Pink seem very spring-like to me.
What do you guys think? Have you seen these or tried them yet?

Becca + Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Sneak Peek

Earlier today I saw a sneak peek on Instagram of a brand new Becca + Jaclyn Hill collaboration called Champagne Glow, and before I could even post this photo of the outside of the palette, Becca Cosmetics posted a photo of the inside, so I have both to show you today! This will be a Sephora exclusive, and will be released on October 27, 2015 for $34. Let's take a look...

There are three shades in this palette, two of which are existing shades. The new shade is the first one on the left that looks white, and it's called Pearl. Also included are Champagne Pop in the center and Blushed Copper on the right.
becca jaclyn hill champagne glow

So far the reactions have been mixed from what I'm seeing on Instagram. Darker-skinned girls are saying they can't really use Pearl and fair skinned girls are wondering how they can use Blushed Copper (although many people say you can use it as a blush). Even more people are disappointed that they already have two of the three shades and can't justify getting this palette just for the new Pearl shade.
As for me, personally, I already have Champagne Pop and I have so many highlighters that I already love, I don't think I'll be picking this one up. I just bought The Balm's Manizer Sisters palette and the Profusion Studio Highlight palette so I think I'm good for a while. What are your thoughts on this one?

Ok, so it actually doesn't come in a bag, just a regular shipping box (not sure why they call it a mystery "bag" but whatever, haha). Last year, I got a great selection of masks, scrubs, lotions, skincare products, plus a dry shampoo! To see exactly what I got, see last year's post here.

If you like Freeman products, the Mystery Bag is really fun...I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense of not knowing what was in it and then opening everything up last year when the box arrived. If you want one, please hurry because they do tend to sell out quickly!

When I reviewed the Profusion Studio Highlight Palette last week, a lot of you were bummed that you don't live near a Five Below and it's not available on the website. So I went back to Five Below and grabbed two more of them to give away to you guys! I know it's not much, but it's one small way that I can show my appreciation to you for coming back here every day and reading/commenting. :) Actually, I'll be doing more giveaways after this one (maybe even a hard-to-find cute little blush set I reviewed recently) so definitely stay tuned for that!
One giveaway will be exclusively on Instagram and one will be here. So if you follow me on Instagram, you have two chances to win!
Good Luck to everyone! Remember, if you're on Instagram, head over there to my profile for another chance to win!

L.A. Colors 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

I was at Five Below last week and spotted some 16 Color eyeshadow palettes from L.A. Colors that I hadn't seen there before, and they were only $4 (you can find it at drugstore.com here for $3.99).  They had a few different ones but this one caught my eye because it has some beautiful nude shades but also some greens and a navy blue. It's called Sweet and there are two other versions...one with bright shades called Haute and a smoky one called Smokin. Let's take a look!
LA Colors 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Sweet

I'm usually skeptical of drugstore eyeshadow palettes...I'm rarely impressed by the ones from "bigger" drugstore brands like Maybelline, Revlon or Cover Girl. But lately it seems like the indie brands have taken over, as I've found that products from City Color, L.A Girl, and Profusion actually surpass the quality of the products found in the drugstore...and they're usually cheaper! The problem is, they can be harder to find so I hope that more drugstores start picking up these brands and carrying their full lines!
This palette is so pretty to look at, between the white packaging, beautiful shade selection, and the zig-zag design in each pan. These are almost all shimmery shades, with the exception of one or two mattes, and the shimmer varies from subtle to pretty heavy depending on the shade.

The pigmentation of these shades is fantastic...all of these swatches are on bare skin (no primer) and were swiped just once after going back and forth in the pan a couple of times with my finger.

This first row of colors is harder to see, not because the shades aren't pigmented, but because they're almost all light shades and they blend in against my pale skin. I had no pigmentation issues with any of the shades in this row, and they all felt super soft and buttery. The more shimmer each shade had, the softer and more pigmented it was, but they also had more fallout.

The second row has mostly darker shades with the exception of the gold and white glittery shades (that white one on the end has a blue/violet shift...it's so pretty in person). In this row, there were two shades that felt a bit more dry, chalky and crumbly than the rest of the palette...the matte olive green shade (5th one from the left) which just wasn't as dark as it looks in the pan, and the navy blue shade, which looks dark in my swatch, but I had to swipe a few times to get it to show up. The first swipe was very light and streaky so I just kept going (this shade is the only one that required more than one swipe). Still, it can be built up easily, so that's a good thing.

Overall, this palette is absolutely amazing quality for the price, and the fact that there were only 2 duds out of 16 shades is really good. This could be the least expensive eyeshadow palette I own, but it's definitely earned a place in the collection of ones I'll use often.
You can find L.A. Colors at Five Below, Dollar General, Target and Kmart to name a few (for a full list of locations, click here).
If there are no stores near you that carry L.A. Colors, you can pick up this palette at drugstore.com for only $3.99.

Profusion Studio Contour Palette Review & Swatches

Last week when I reviewed the Profusion Studio Highlight kit, a lot of you told me here and on social media that you've been seeing the Profusion Studio Contour Palette at Five Below and Marshalls, so of course I had to go back to Five Below and see if it was there. Sure enough, after some digging I found them hidden in the back on a shelf in the makeup aisle! I'm not much of a contour person, but at $4, I couldn't resist grabbing one to review for you guys. Let's take a look...

Just like the highlight palette, this one has six shades housed in a soft cardboard palette rather than a plastic one. I actually prefer this type of packaging because I feel like it provides more cushion if you happen to drop it.
On the back of the palette, there are instructions for both highlighting and contouring which is helpful for those who aren't seasoned at applying this type of product.

The shades included remind me quite a bit of both Kat Von D's Shade & Light palette and Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. Unfortunately, I don't have either one so I can't make a direct comparison and see if this is a dupe, but they all contain similar shades...
-a light shimmery champagne, plus a yellow and a peach toned highlight in the top row and
-a light, medium and dark contour shade in the bottom row.

The pans are very generously sized and the formula is soft and silky. I love the range of shades because there seems to be something for every skin tone in this palette. The Nude shade in the bottom left corner is the perfect contour color for my fair skin, and all of the highlights can work for me as well. I don't see myself ever using the two darker contour shades, but for $4, the fact that I can use 4 out of 6 shades is fine with me!

The highlight swatches are a little hard to see since they aren't too much different than my actual skintone, but the shades are all nicely pigmented.

Overall, this is another great product from Profusion Cosmetics, especially for $4. Thank you guys so much for recommending this to me, I'm so glad I was able to find it! :)
Profusion does have some other contour palettes on their website, but they're a little bit more expensive than this one. If you live near a Five Below or Marshalls, be sure to check this one out!

Next is the Essential Prime & Stay Setting Powder ($2) and they're marketing it as a dupe of a "$26 department store brand" product worth $26...hmm sounds like MAC Prep + Prime to me! It's supposed to set your makeup and minimize pores and fine lines.
Studio Kiss It Goodbye Lip Color Remover ($3) contains Safflower Oil, Jojoba Oil and Aloe and claims to condition your lips while gently breaking down long-wearing lip color.
Elf has also released a new Holiday shade of their Studio Moisturizing Lipstick ($3), and it's a deep crimson red called Razzle Dazzle.
Finally, there are also three new shades of their Studio Matte Lipcolor ($3)...Berry Sorbet, Hot Commodity, and Dash of Pink.
Are any of these new products calling your name?
