Palmers Skin Therapy Oil Face Review

$

I'm a huge fan of Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula. Their Skin Therapy Oil for the body got me through my pregnancy with no stretch marks, although my husband hated the chocolate scent of the cocoa butter and made a comment every night when I got into bed (who doesn't like the scent of chocolate??). Anyway, I was excited when one of my Facebook fans told me that she had seen a commercial for a Face version on TV. I hadn't seen it, but decided I had to track it down. It was really hard to find, but my trusty Bed, Bath and Beyond had it, yay!
This one claims to do it all...correct wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven tone. I'm all for a one-shot deal, but skeptical at the same time. Lets take a look at the ingredients...

This has an impressive list of 10 nourishing oils: Sweet Almond, Sesame, Coconut, Macadamia Nut, Apricot, Grapeseed, Argan, Camelina, and Sunflower. It also has Cocoa Butter, of course, and Retinol and Vitamin C. Recent studies show that Vitamin C helps retinol to work better against wrinkles, so I was happy to see that combo.

This oil comes in an amber glass dropper, which helps protect the ingredients from breaking down. I would prefer a pump, but the dropper isn't that bad. A lot of oils have them. I use a few drops for my face and that's all you really need. It's very hydrating, but lightweight, and soaks in quickly, at least for my dry skin. I even use this during the day under makeup. It has a pleasant rosehip scent (not chocolate) so my husband isn't repelled by this one.

Overall I love this oil. The ingredients are top notch and after 2 weeks, my face looks brighter and has a glow to it. I've even stopped using foundation and switched to BB cream! It's too early to say if it helps with wrinkles, since you have to give it at least a month, but I'm hoping that the retinol does its job!

Has anyone else tried this yet? I'd love to hear your reviews!

Julep Maven Modern Beauty Box May 2014

$

Hey guys, I'm so sorry for the brief hiatus! My 10 month old has been going through a very clingy phase and its been difficult to get much done, plus my husband's company is going through a big change and he's been traveling non-stop the past few weeks, leaving me with everything else. But he's back now and things are back to normal, so I wanted to jump right back in and share my latest Julep Maven box!
I'm still getting the Modern Beauty box which is 2 full sized beauty products (no nail polishes). I keep forgetting to look during the time where we can switch to see if I might want a different box. Most have 2 nail polishes and 1 beauty product, and the It Girl box has 3 nail polishes each month. So there's a lot to choose from but you have to switch before the boxes ship and I've been a scatterbrain these days.
Anyway, I'm so happy I stayed with Modern Beauty because I love this month's box- its perfect for someone with dry old-lady hands like me! It includes a full size Rock Star Hand Cream and Brilliance Glycolic Hand Scrub!
The Brilliance Glycolic Hand Scrub (formerly Glycolic Hand Scrub) retails for $23, which is already more than the cost of the box ($19.99). It features a 1-2 punch of crushed apricot seeds and Glycolic acid which gets rid of flakes and dry patches.
Rock Star Hand Cream $20, has Shea Butter, Glycerin, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E. Both products are available at Julep's website and also at Sephora.
The hand scrub is absolutely amazing. I've tried hand scrubs in the past, but this one works the best. The combination of the grainy texture from the apricot seeds and Glycolic acid exfoliate so well. My hands looked so smooth and much younger after using this and I hadn't even put on hand cream yet! The fragrance is delicious as well...fresh, clean and green. The squeeze tube is also easy to use, just twist the cap and squeeze- you don't have to remove the cap, which is nice.

Rock Star Hand Cream is also one of the best hand products I've used. Its rich, yet sinks right in with no residue, leaving my hands so smooth. It has the same wonderful scent as the scrub and it also lasts through several hand washings, which is a huge plus for me since I wash mine often and that's the main reason they look so bad most of the time.

So here are my before and after shots...you can see that my hands look old and dry and wrinkled before, and oh so much better after!

Have you tried Julep's hand products, either through them or at Sephora?

Sonia Kashuk Dewy Luxe Lip and Cheek Balm Enchanted Review and Swatches

New for Spring 2014 is Sonia Kashuk's Dewy Luxe, a lip and cheek stain that she's calling a balm, but its more like a gel-balm hybrid. Either way, its unlike anything I've ever tried before.

It's packaged in a black tube that reminds me a little bit of an inkwell, how it's wider at the bottom. The applicator is a brush, like nail polish that you dip into the bottom to get more color. I chose the color Enchanted, a bright pink, but there is one other shade, Charmed, which is a bright coral.
The formula is like a gel, but not a drying gel, it has moisture to it, which is where the balm aspect comes in. It leaves a soft dewy film that's not sticky or goopy at all.
This is the color swatched on my arm without blending. You can see that it looks pretty bright, but once blended, it gives a nice soft flush of color.
Here are my before and afters- it blends out into a nice pop of pink, more color than I'm used to wearing, but not crazy. I would still wear this shade, given the right outfit/occasion.

This balm is super long lasting also and it's highly pigmented so you only need a tiny bit. It's not marketed as a stain, but it left color behind on my lips and cheeks for hours! Unlike traditional lip stains which basically feel like alcohol going on, this has a dewy, moisturizing feel and I never found that my lips felt dry at all, even hours later. My skin and especially my lips are always dry, but this didn't make them any worse, and with a top coat of balm, even my lip lines disappeared!
Overall this is an amazing new product and is a stain that even dry skinned girls will love. I've been waiting for someone to invent a moisturizing stain without having to apply a separate product and this is it!
The only downside is the limited shade range, but the color is buildable, so you can apply a little for a subtle wash of color, or a lot to pack more of a punch.
You can get this at Target stores for $9.99

Have you tried this? What do you think?

Beauty Box 5 May 2014 Reveal

It's that time again, where all my subscription boxes are starting to arrive. I just got my Beauty Box 5 and it might very well be my favorite one so far this month...take a look!
For those who are unfamiliar with Beauty Box 5, its a monthly subscription box that contains 5 beauty samples for $12 a month.
First is Ban's (the deodorant company) Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths. I got 3 of them (they normally come 10 in a pack for $2.97). These cloths are meant for your whole body and you just open one up and give yourself a quick once-over after the gym or if you're going somewhere after work and need to freshen up. They're so perfect for summer because they're cooling and leave your skin with a powdery soft finish so you won't feel all sweaty and gross on a sweltering hot day. I had never heard of these before but will definitely be buying more when these run out...they're cheap too!
I'm still loving the H2O+ hand cream I got in last month's Beauty Box 5, so much so that I bought the full size at Kohls the other day! So I was super excited to get another product from them in this month's box. This Marine cleansing gel is supposed to gently exfoliate and protect skin from free radicals and environmental damage. It contains sea salt and marine botanicals. Sounds nice and I can't wait to try it! This is a sample size but the full size retails for $18.
This Cattiva Eye Pencil is waterproof and retractable (no sharpening-yay!). I've never heard of this brand before but I swatched this liner on my hand and it has a smooth glide and didn't budge! Waterproof liners are so essential when the weather gets warm so I'm really happy to have this. It's a full size, worth $20!
This next sample I am particularly excited about...its Harvey Prince's Hello Perfume. I've been wanting to try this ever since they talked about it in the Birchbox sneek peek video a few months ago. It sounded amazing and the reviews are really good, so I was all excited and didn't end up getting it in my Birchbox...bummer! But Beauty Box 5 included it this month, so thank you, thank you! This is my new summer perfume! I have already ordered a full size because I love it so much. Hello is such a fitting name because it just greets you with a smile when you spray it on and makes you feel happy. The description says it has Meyer Lemon and Grapefruit at the top, then Forsythia and Plumeria so basically a citrus floral, but that's not what I get from it at all! Floral scents typically give me a headache and citrus smell too clean and tart most of the time. I do smell them in here but this perfume has a warmth that I never expected and I love warm scents...coconut, vanilla, sandalwood etc. I never thought I would like a floral but this has a sweetness and warmth that's still fresh at the same time- perfect for summer. It's the one I've been waiting for!
Finally, I got a Hydrating Sheet Mask from Masker Aide (cute name!). This one is called Pre Party Prep and is supposed to Brighten, Prime, and Energize the skin, all with the convenience of a sheet and no mess. I've never tried a sheet mask so I'm excited to have the opportunity.

Overall, I love everything in my Beauty Box 5 this month! I got to try some things I've never tried before, found my new signature scent, and got a full sized staple product that I know I'll be using this summer.

I love Urban Decay and I'm so excited to see that they've launched a new collection for summer 2014 called Summer Nights featuring several new products that look amazing.

First is Naked Skin Illuminating Beauty Balm, $34. I love their Naked BB and this is supposed to add radiance all while firming, and minimizing pores, lines, wrinkles and redness. I just hope it doesn't have too much shimmer!

Next is the same thing, but in a bronzing formula! Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm, $34.

And then there's one for the body! It's supposed to hydrate, tighten and blur flaws! Naked Skin Body Beauty Balm, $32.

Finally, they've introduced new shades called Strip and Streak. Naked Flushed palette, $30.

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

$

A few weeks ago, I posted some pictures to my Facebook page of a new mascara from L'Oreal for summer 2014.  Miss Manga promises to give up to 15x lash volume and a wide awake Manga look plus it features a flexible cone shaped brush to help get all those hard to reach lashes.  Does it live up to its claims? Let's take a look!

I love the packaging on this one...I'm a sucker for anything that's hot pink and shiny.

Here's the wand- it's cone shaped with jagged bristles that aren't all the same length.  Some appear to be shorter while others are longer. Do you see that point below the brush where the wand indents?  That's the flexible part.  At first I thought that it was too bendy and wobbly and that I'd have trouble keeping it straight to comb it through my lashes, but I actually liked that aspect of it.  I found that I didn't have to contort my hand as much trying to get at my lashes from all sides.  The one downside to the cone shaped brush is that while I'm using the narrow end to get into the corner, the wider end is leaving mascara on my eyelid.
Here are my before and afters.  I thought this gave me not only amazing volume but length too, which the packaging doesn't really talk about. Also, I love that it curled my lashes up, without using an eyelash curler (hate those things!), so it really does give that wide eyed Manga look.  I didn't have any problems with smudging throughout the day and into the night except for a few flakes after about 8 hours or so.

So here's a quick summary of the claims:

15x volume- Check.  At least 15x, I would say! Plus length.
Wide Eyed Manga Look- Yup- nice curl!
Flexible Cone Shaped Brush helps get hard to reach lashes- Yes, but not without reaching the eyelids too.
Clump-free, Smudge-Free, Flake-Free- Not exactly (there were some clumping issues I had to comb out, Yes (I didn't have any smudging), and Mostly Yes (flakes were minimal).

Overall, this mascara is awesome. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond for $5.99.

Ipsy Glam Bag May 2014

Happy Monday everyone!  I got my Ipsy Glam Bag over the weekend, and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in the products I got this month.  It was almost all skincare, and I saw on Ipsy's website that other people got a Too Faced Bronzer, an Eva NY hair mask (which I could really use!), and a Revlon Matte Balm.  So I wish they had included more variety in this month's bag, but oh well.  Ipsy is usually my favorite bag every month, but I guess they can't be #1 all the time! Here's what I got...

Pacifica Mineral Eye Shadow Duo- These are coconut infused shadows and they gave me some pretty shades, although very neutral and a tad boring.  I already have so many colors like this, but I do like the finish these have and I'm sure I'll use them.  This was the only makeup that was in my bag this month.

Pur~lisse Pur-Moist Hydra Balance Moisturizer- This is a nice moisturizer and to be fair, I did say that I had dry skin when I took Ipsy's quiz.  I will definitely use this, but again I'm a little bored by it.  I have so many face moisturizers.  That's not Ipsy's fault though.

Hey Honey Take It Off Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask- This is the one product I got excited about in this month's bag, because it's different and interesting!  This mask is supposed to exfoliate and smooth the skin, and after wearing it for 10 minutes or so, you peel it off (reminds me of the cucumber peel-off masks I used in high school!).

Avene Eau Thermale Themal Spring Water- Ok, so I know plenty of people use these water mists, but I've always found them to be a little silly, at least for me.  I don't really travel on planes much or live in an arid climate where I would feel like misting water on my face, and if I did, I think I'd probably just put my 100% pure well water into a mister and use that rather than spending crazy amounts of money on WATER, even if it is from France. A can of this stuff is $18! So yeah, I'll probably take this on vacation next month and use it, just because I have it. But I don't think I could ever bring myself to actually buy this.

Jersey Shore Sun Sans Tan Pure White Mineral Sunscreen- I like the idea of an all natural mineral based sunscreen, but this was thick and sticky and hard to absorb into my skin.  It felt oily and was separated when coming out of the tube.  Plus since it's mineral based, it left a white coating on my skin so I wasn't too impressed by this one.

Well, that's what I got!  I would say that so far this month, Ipsy falls third on my list after Beauty Box 5 (#1) and Julep Maven (#2).  I normally love Ipsy, and they're usually at the top of my list, so I have to cut them some slack this month.  But I'd love to see a bigger variety next time, not just skincare- maybe some perfumes, makeup and hair products!  Also, it would be helpful if Ipsy started including a card like Birchbox, Julep and Beauty Box 5 that lists what's in the bag and has a short description and pricing.  That way I won't have to look everything up to see what it's supposed to do, the ingredients, etc.
So what did you get in your Ipsy Glam Bag this month?  Was it like mine, or a little more interesting?

ELF Studio HD Blush Headliner Review and Swatches

$

I don't know why it's taken me so long to write this review because I've been using this blush for about 2 years now and it's one of the best blushes out there while also being one of the cheapest.
The ELF website says it's $3, I got mine at Target for the random amount of $3.04. I guess .04 is their markup but why not make it .05? Anyway, its dirt cheap, yet the formula is simply outstanding. This review is for the lightest shade, Headliner (it comes in 5 shades total).

The packaging is your basic ELF packaging, simple and black.

This comes in a pump and is easy to control. Its not like some pumps that dispense way too much...you can press it lightly and just dispense a tiny dab. Really, the teeniest little dot is all it takes or you risk looking like a clown- this stuff is that pigmented. Just make sure to shake it well or it may separate a bit.

Here I dispensed way too much for the purposes of this review. I would only use about 1/100th of that on my face.

Here's what that ended up looking like on my arm...this swatch is about 6 inches long and not even close to blended out. That's why you really need just a little bit.
I dabbed my finger into the big swatch and blended a little so you can see how it looks. This shade is so pretty and has a bit of shimmer for a soft focus effect.

This blush feels velvety soft and not drying at all. If lasts all day and after 8 hours it was still visible, though it had faded some.

Let's check the product claims...

1. Naturally sculpts and highlights for a soft-focus effect- YES
2. Vitamin E enriched formula hydrates the skin- YES
3. Velvety soft, lightweight, high pigment lasts all day- YES to all!

If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend it! This is a super high quality blush for $3. It has more pigment than many blushes costing even 8-10 times more. Its an amazing bargain...run to your local Target and pick this up, or head over to ELF's website below. You won't be disappointed!

Stay Sun-Safe This Summer- My Skin Cancer Story

$
0
0
I just went to the dermatologist last week for my annual skin cancer screening.  It had been almost two years since I had gone because when I got pregnant, I had so many doctor's appointments and was taking so much time off from work, I sort of let everything else fall through the cracks.  Then the past 11 months I've been so consumed with taking care of an infant, I once again let myself take a back seat.  I'm supposed to go every 6 months, because I've had skin cancer before...yes, you read that right.  I found out the hard way that you're never too young.
So many of my friends have been posting on Facebook lately about lying out and getting some pre-Memorial Day color, and I just want to shake them and be like, "are you crazy??"  When I was a teenager, I did my fair share of lying out, and even visited a tanning bed a few times during the Winter.  But as I read more and more about Melanoma and how fast it can spread down through the skin and into your body, invading other organs and quickly becoming serious (even deadly), I started protecting myself.
I have the type of skin that is high risk- fair, Irish/English, and lots of moles and freckles, but it can happen to anyone of any ethnicity, with any skin tone.
In 2009 when I was 31, a friend of mine saw a pink bump in the part of my hair.  He said he never noticed it before and when I went home, I looked at it with a mirror.  I figured it was a pimple and left it alone.  But it didn't go away, so finally I went to the dermatologist. I was a little concerned because I had been on several trips to the Caribbean during the summer in recent years and had gotten sunburns on my part as a result of forgetting to put sunscreen there. She said she didn't think it was anything, but removed it for testing just to be safe.
It came back as a Basal Cell Carcinoma.  When I found out it was cancer I started to panic but she assured me that that type of cancer very rarely spreads beyond the skin and wasn't fatal.  I was relieved that it wasn't Melanoma, but due to the fact that it was on my scalp, I had to visit a plastic surgeon.  He had to remove the skin surrounding the bump to make sure they got every bit of the cancer and I ended up getting quite a large chunk of skin removed and had my first experience with staples which was pretty painful and really grossed everyone out.  Now there's a spot on my head where the hair will never grow back and as a result, I changed my part.  But it's a constant reminder that I need to be careful.
Interestingly, my Father who ever since I can remember, has always been that guy who lays on the beach all summer (with nothing but SPF 2 and gets a deep dark tan every year) just got his very first Basal Cell a week after I got mine.  It just goes to show you that it can happen at any age.  Mine just happened to be very early.
The other day when I went for my long-overdue appointment, my dermatologist noticed a mole that had the characteristics of melanoma.  She removed it and sent it to the lab to make sure.  As I await my phone call, I think about how scared I was all those years ago when I first heard about how deadly melanoma can be, and I think about how much worse that feeling is now that I have a little boy who is dependent on me.  I don't want to leave him, and more than anything I want to see him grow up. I just have so much more to lose now and it's a terrible feeling.  I'm sure that I'm worrying for nothing and my test results will come back just fine, but there's always that thought in the back of your mind saying, "what if?"
I hate that I waited so long in between checkups and I hate that I was so motivated to be tan when I was younger. I wish I had known what I know now.
So please, do me a favor and wear SPF...all.the.time.  Don't go to tanning beds, don't lie out without protecting yourself.  At the very least, you'll have a gorgeous youthful look well into your 30's and 40's without all those age spots and crows feet starting to crop up.  But most importantly, you won't be sitting there waiting for that phone call that informs you that you have cancer.  I've been there and done that...hopefully for the last time.

29 By Lydai Mondavi First Crush Lip Scrub Review

Back in March, I reviewed the Wine Blot Lip Balm by 29 by Lydia Mondavi when the luxury brand first debuted at Target. I had purchased this lip scrub ($10) at the same time and have been using it ever since. Like the lip balm, this packaging is ultra luxurious. The box features raised silver grapevines on the sides and silver and brown accents.

The tube is exactly like the Wine Blot balm- it's heavy and very expensive-feeling in your hand.
Like a lot of similar lip scrubs, this comes in the form of a bullet that you apply directly to your lips. It contains some really moisturizing ingredients such as Grape Seed Extract, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, with Apricot Seed Powder as the exfoliant.  I much prefer this type over the ones in the jar- it's more sanitary and a lot less mess.  This took a few swipes to bring the apricot seeds to the surface.  The instructions say to apply it and then rub your lips together.  That works well, but I found that if I rub it in with my finger it increases the exfoliation even more.

After rubbing it in, you just remove it with a tissue.  I found that afterwards, it left behind a layer of moisture and it felt like I had lip balm on already! No other lip scrub I've tried has left my lips feeling so hydrated and soft. It minimized the lines in my lips and they looked younger, smoother and plumped.

So to wrap up, I'll just go through the claims:

Like a mini facial for your lips- YES
Leave lips feeling smooth and prepped for intense hydration- YES
Keep lips looking young and vibrant- YES

This one definitely lives up to all it's claims, and is a fantastic price for the luxurious packaging and formula!  Head over to your local Target or Target.com to purchase.

Birchbox May 2014 Reveal

My Birchbox was late this month, but they gave me 100 points to make up for it, which I was really excited about (100 points=$10 toward product!). Plus, this box was really great so I don't mind the lateness. Check out what I got!

Perlier Shea Butter Intensive Nurturing Body Balm with Sweet Almond Milk- I've seen this Italian skincare brand many times on HSN and always wanted to try it!  This balm is thick, rich and made my skin feel like butter, plus it smells like almonds...delicious! This one's going right in my purse.

Coola Radical Recovery After Sun Lotion- This light lotion feels so nice on the skin and soaks in fast with no greasy residue.  It contains agave to moisturize, soothe and protect skin that's been exposed to the sun (and can be used on both the face and body).  I'll definitely be taking this with me to the Hamptons this weekend!
Smarty Pants Gummy Vitamins- These gummies are a complete Multivitamin, Vitamin D and Omega 3 supplement in one!  They taste delicious, like candy, with no funky vitamin or fishy aftertaste.  Love that!

Nexus Color Assure 3-Step System- This includes a pre-wash primer, shampoo and conditioner.  This oil-infused line helps to make sure your color doesn't fade out.  I can't wait to try this after I color my hair this weekend.

Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Riviera- In the tube, this looked like a really dark pink, but on the lips, it comes out as a sheer rose and I absolutely love it!  It feels so hydrating, has great shine and isn't sticky at all. See swatch below...

I loved this month's Birchbox!  They had the right mix of skincare, hair, makeup and lifestyle products.
This was my last subscription box for May, and I would rank this second after Beauty Box 5 which was my favorite, then Julep Maven in third, with Ipsy in last place this month.

Harvey Prince Hello Review

$

Harvey Prince Hello is the perfect perfume for Spring and Summer and is my new signature scent...take a look!

I've been on the hunt for a new perfume the past year or so and it hasn't been easy.  Sure, I find ones that smell nice, but I'm looking for something different...something interesting that doesn't smell like everything else.  I'm drawn to scents that smell light, fresh and clean, but not too soapy, and I like them to have a warmth and sweetness to them without smelling too sticky-sweet like candy.  Florals usually give me a headache unless they're well balanced and grounded with other scents.
I had heard about Harvey Prince in magazines but their fragrances aren't sold in stores and I was always hesitant to order perfume online- what if I didn't like it?
I received a sample of Hello in my May Beauty Box 5, and I was so excited to finally try it since the reviews have been great. When I spritzed it on for the first time I knew right away- this was it! I heard that Lionel Richie song in my head, "Hello, is it me you're looking for?"  I had found that perfect blend that I had been after all this time.
The name Hello fits this scent so well, because it's a perfect way to greet the day and just makes you feel happy.  The creators wanted to mimic the joy of waking up to a warm day with the sun shining and the flowers blooming, and I would say they got it exactly right!

Here are the notes:
Top: Meyer Lemon, White Grapefruit, and Satsuma Mandarin- these give it that freshness that I was looking for without smelling like soap or detergent.
Middle: Summer Forsythia, Pink Plumeria (used in Hawaiian leis) and Wild Verbena- these florals are not headache inducing on me at all.  They're perfectly balanced in the heart of the fragrance surrounded by fresh and warm notes.
Bottom: Tahitian Vanilla and Sensual Musk- the perfect blend to give it a warmth and sweetness without being cloying.

I am so happy with this scent, I can't wait to get the body cream and liquid loofah to layer it with.  Next I want to try Temptress, Yogini and Fling- they all sound wonderful too!

I bought the 8.8ml tall spray for $26, but they also offer a larger 1.7oz. size for $55 and a rollerball for $21. If you want to try Harvey Prince's frangrances without too much risk, they do offer sample mini's for $12 on their website

Have you tried any of Harvey Prince's fragrances?  Which one(s) are your favorites and why?

Bit Beauty BB For Lips is a new product that just came out for Spring 2014.  I'm pretty much obsessed with Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask (read my review here), so when I found out they had just released the BB for lips $24, I had to splurge on it and see what it was all about.
I purchased the shade Flush, which is light pink, but there are 5 shades in all, one of which is clear. I swatched the other 4 shades so you can see what they look like. I have to say, they go on way more sheer than what they look like in the tube!

Left to right: Flush (light pink), Tawny (dusty pink), Dolce (deep purple) and Suede (light pink brown).

I chose Flush because I have pale pink lips naturally and just wanted something to enhance and give that My-Lips-But-Better color.
The packaging is sleek and black. The box is very similar to the Agave Lip Mask but the product itself comes in a matte black twist up tube. I love that its not bulky and slips nicely into a small bag or clutch.
As I said above, the color looks way darker in the tube. This goes on sheer and feels ultra moisturizing and emollient. It melts into the lips, but still has a firmness to it, so its not as soft as Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment for example. But in the summertime that's a good thing! It tastes like vanilla with a slight hint of citrus.
Here is Flush swatched on my arm- its a sheer, pretty pink and tints my lips just enough. I don't even really need a mirror to apply this which I love!
 Here's my before and after:

I'm just in love with this subtle color for summer! But since the other shades are sheer, I'm betting I would like them all. The only downside to this balm is that it doesn't have lasting power...an hour or two tops, but that's expected with balms and its easy enough to reapply.

Overall, let's look at the claims:
Repairs- YES, moisturizes and minimizes lines
Primes- SORT OF, it depends what you mean by prime- this as a base helped lipstick go on smoothly but didn't seem to extend wear time.
Protects- YES, with SPF 15!
Mimics the lips natural surface to revitalize, repair and restore texture for the ultimate softness-  YES, this feels so smooth going on, melts into the lips and looks so natural. After using it for a week now, my lips look healthier and less dry.

Have you tried Bite Beauty's BB for Lips yet or do you want to? Which shade looks good to you?

Forever 21 Summer Haul

Today it was pouring rain and we had crazy thunderstorms, so I took Henry, my 11 month old, to the mall with me (thankfully he doesn't mind shopping...yet) and I spent so much time in Forever 21 because they have a ton of cute things on the cheap!  So I picked up a few staples I've been wanting that have a trendy twist like drapey shorts and pants, and some (semi) crop tops- I don't really go overboard with trends, and try to stick to versions that are pretty tame. Still, I love F21 for the fact that I can get trendy pieces without breaking the bank, because who knows if this stuff will be in next summer?

So here's what I got!

I absolutely love this semi-crop top.  I am 36 after all and a mom, but I'm also at my lowest weight in 6 or 7 years, so I don't mind showing off a little.  I like this top because it lets me rock this trend without showing too much.  $12.80

I fell in love with these D'orsay flats and had to have them, even though I was really looking for sandals. How cute will these striped canvas flats look with shorts?!  When I brought them to the register to check out all the sales girls were talking about them and saying they were going to buy them too.  They're beachy, fun, oh yeah, and only $19.80!

These drapey shorts have lace trim at the bottom, so they can be dressed up for going out at night.  Super cute and comfortable too!  $19.80

These soft floral drapey shorts are so comfy yet girly at the same time.  They have pockets and also zipper details on the sides.  These are lightweight and will be so much cooler than denim shorts when it's hot outside. $15.80

I've been wanting a pair of drapey pants (joggers) but everywhere I look they have all these crazy prints on them.  I found a black pair at LOFT that was part of their Lou and Grey line, but they were $70!  Then I went to F21 to see if they had a pair, and they were almost identical in style and feel to the LOFT pants, but were a fraction of the cost.  I cuff these and wear them with flip flops and they look so cute!  They're a flowy rayon material.  Love! $11.80
This tribal print dress has a camisole top and light airy skirt.  I love this style that's fitted on top and flares out at the waist.  $27.80

I loved this tribal print tank top with it's y-back straps.  It's a basic tank but the print adds some flair. $9.80

Well that's it for now.  Where have you been shopping this summer?  Any cute buys?
